Gearbox fault!!?

As a new owner for an AM this car is really making me paranoid I'm always driving it with some sort of fears that something will happen something would go wrong.
So the other day I parked the car on a slope so I when I decided that it's time to move the car after 20 minutes I started the car waited for the 10 seconds to pass gear was in neutral I hit the R button but the car wouldn't move and I had a message saying (gearbox fault reduced function) then I hit the D button it worked fine and now all the gears are working fine

Is this a series thing to consider or was it just of the way I parked or dieing battery... Etc

It could a a condition called "Torque Lock" where sometimes some stress is put on a drive train from parking a on slope, etc. It can be difficult to engage into a gear, especially reverse, since the car wants to roll backwards If you got a warning, its likely that the reverse senor recognized not being able to shift into reverse and triggered your warning. I've had this happen to me on occasion when I lived in a hilly region, with both manual and automatics cars

I'd drive the car and have fun,, .

Actually this happens time to time, make sure you press the PRDN button firmly and in center of the button. As time goes dust collects in those button making it difficult and I have actually removed them, disassembled the buttons, cleaned them with QD quarts electronics cleaner and they worked fine for a while, eventually had to replace them. Disassembly of the button is tricky and you may damage them.

I’d be worried about a dying battery. As a first step think about putting it on a battery tender asap.
