Ok, we all love our cars. They're beautiful, classy, and yes, they DO have soul. But, oh, my goodness, they are weird.
Here's one of the things that makes me shake me head about my Gen 1 DB9:
  • At the top of the closing edge of the doors, there is a little oddly-shaped piece of plastic covered in leather.
  • That tiny piece is attached to an intricately-bent bracket that probably took someone named Clive six months to design.
  • The little piece of leather-covered plastic is attached to the bracket by velcro.
  • It will cost you $85 to replace when it falls off.
What makes you shake YOUR head in bemusement?

In my 2007 V8V the footwell carpeting actually looks like floor mats. Unbeknownst to me when I bought the car, I decided I was going to look "under the floor mat" and I was staring at wires and metal. Maybe it's like this on other Astons as well? I just found that weird...almost an after thought that they didn't feel like putting carpet across the footwell so they just covered it with this floor mat piece of carpet.

As a rule, the things that a rich owner will never see (because they don't work on it themselves) have a horrible fit/finish. Akin to a Lamborghini or Ferrari which (are/used to be?) equally sloppy.

Porsche's tend to have really nice hidden figures, but the Acura NSX is unbelievably beautiful. I was blown away when I tore one down....

You guys spent how many hours designing the best looking sports cars and GT cars in England, and you put the umbrella holder in the absolute worst place possible to access when you actually need it. In a country famous for rain. What?

I was going to replace my SmarTire TPMS sensors with parts from the dealer, until I found out they were $600....per wheel! It seems like every other car in the world can get them for $80 at most.

So I think what I hate the most, even when it's just a Ford part, it's been marked up 10x the normal cost. I understand why, it's just frustrating and makes you feel like you're getting jacked around for nothing other than an Aston logo and part number.

For me the most inexcusable flaw is the tail light condensation issue. A more quirky “feature” would be the mechanical groaning from the side mirror open/close and same with the roadster top.

But I am very satisfied with the overall build and materials used.

Yesterday I just discovered the low pressure A/C port is hidden under the washer filler cap. To access the port, you have to remove 2 screws and the cap. Not sure why has to be there but they did make a special bracket to hold the cap.

Quirks are charming.
