Annual State Inspection FAILED
Annual State Inspection FAILED
2005 DB9 with 26,xxx miles. I go to the same shop for inspections every year. Yesterday I failed. The print out states the Catalyst and the Evaporative System are "Not Ready". I live 2 miles from the shop. The tech suggested I didn't drive it long enough prior to the inspection. I took the long way home and hooked up my Foxwell. Nothing. All clear.
Any input is appreciated. I'm going back Monday after a ~ 60 mile drive.

If you had to jump the car or replace/disconnect the battery, many cars needs to complete a full "drive cycle" before all systems will read "ready" for testing. Take a few good rides and fill up with gas at least once. Shouldn't take too long.
if all the tests have been performed with success you will pass the smog test.
BTW, last year i could not get my 2007 v8 to perform one of the critical tests that is only attempted once per cold start. i eventually had to take it to a nearby a$ton martin dealership. they managed to get the reluctant test to occur and thus i was able to pass the test the next day. price? $400 and they wouldn't divulge the magic formula that triggered the test.
i won't be going back to them anytime soon.

Thanks drummer. No jumping/battery shenanigans. This is my 4th annual inspection with the DB9. I've scrolled back and think this is what I have done the last 3 times. I go thru my start up procedure. Let the car come to temp and drive the 2 miles to get the inspection. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem driving the 2 lane country roads around here for an hour or so prior to the inspection. I'll report back Monday.
With your Foxwell goto the menu for I/M readiness to view if emissions monitoring has completed or is inc. (Incomplete) make sure your fuel level is below 3/4 full and above 1/4. Operating temp drive steadily 55-65 mph catalyst monitor should set in 5-7 miles. After it sets head home and allow overnight rest 8-10 hours. Morning start and idle 20 min. Shut off and rest 30 min. Start car idle 2 min. And then drive less than 1 mile. Evap monitor should set on drive.
You know I remember a story like this a few years back. Maybe a form search might have your answer.

I got delayed. The weather here has been so nice when my buddy called and asked if I wanted to spend some time on his boat, So after some nice days on the water I returned home for my reinspection. I drove for about 45 minutes and pulled up to my shop. PASSED. As mentioned above, the time spent driving activated all sensors from "Not Ready" to Passed.
