"soft" start question

I've noticed that in the morning, or the first start up of the day, my Vantage makes the classic start up noises and eagerly roars to life. This is in opposition to later starts that are 'softer' and less aggressive, almost anemic, but runs fine once started. I have chalked this up to heat sink and having been run and not cooled down fully but I'm curious if this is related to spark plug wear or similar? No errors, no codes, and just crossed 45K miles. Daily driver. Does anyone else's do this?

is this about the exhaust noise that is generated on startup?

I heard one reason has to do with emissions and warming up the CATS sooner. Once they are hot, start ups are less aggressive.

It’s the cold start program that tries to get everything up to temperature. My M2 CS does it too. Sounds like a lawnmower on steroids when cold. The Aston on the other hand shakes my house and the other two houses around it. I took it out the other day when the next door neighbour had their gardeners around. They heard it over their equipment and were both standing there smiling giving me the thumbs up.

That is the best explanation I've heard yet. I wouldn't mind that cold start symphony every time though...

My F80 (same engine has the M2 CS) has this same run-up program to warm up the cats. BMW's are cool in the sense that you can code-off this feature. You MIGHT be able to code it in the Vantage, but I'm not sure.

I don't think it's possible with AM engine Vantage. Maybe with the Mercedes engine Vantage it's possible.

I agree with Marmot, wish it would start up like this when the engine is warm as well.

Same thing for the V12's. At least so on my '09 DB9 for the many years that I've owned it. I hate warm starts because of not only the stated anemic—dare I add embarrassing quality, but once in awhile it even does this sort of choke/stall effect. Very disappointing for such an exotic.
