DBX differential whine

I’ve complained to the dealer since new about a whine that is so loud 48-55 mph you hear it over the radio. I’m told this is normal and the Vantage is even worse. Anyone else experiencing this? Drives me crazy. Yeah I try to go faster but not always possible.

Arrange to drive a similar year and model. That will decide your next option.

I have a '19 Vantage and I have no differential whine at any speed.

Take it to your dealer, this is a known Vantage issue and should be covered under warrantee--KH

I had this on my 2020 Vantage at, or around, 70mph. I did not have it over the wider speed range you describe. I had the differential replaced under warranty, however, it was a bit of a process. They had to drive the car and record the noise, send the recording to Aston Martin, then let them decide if it was bad enough to merit a replacement. The tech said mine was the loudest they've ever heard...of course.

In the end, I was given the choice of whether I wanted to replace the diff, or leave it alone due to the extensive amount of work involved. The rear cradle has to be dropped. I chose to replace it, and it was very much improved. The service manager told me the rear diff alone is $16k. Btw, when I traded my car in for a 2023, this did not affect my trade value. Still did well with my trade.

Hope this helps!

Speed is the only factor that changes the whine. Rpm mode or gear doesn’t effect it.

The factory is getting involved. What concerns me is they decide wether or not I have to I’ve with it or take a big hit to get rid of it. It is really loud and I’m tuned into it now making it worse. The quality of the DBX doesn’t seem to be on par with the rest of the product line.

Interesting that they're dealing with it differently than mine. I was give the choice to repair or leave it, and it didn't affect my value.

probably a lot to do with the dealer. I bought mine new in Connecticut where I started dealing with the noise. They didn’t want to even acknowledge the concerns. Finally when cornered they said it’s normal. I’ve since moved to Florida and now dealing with the Tampa dealer. They offered me just over 1/2 of what I paid for it 15 months ago with 9k on it. So I’m pushing to get it fixed.

if you bought new and first owner and the car is titled in Florida, that state has brutally tough lemon laws in your favor.

Well, I live just outside of Orlando, so you might want to try the dealer that helped me. They can't be more than 90 mins from you. Maybe start with a phone call? The service manager I work with is Don.
