2020 Vantage-Reduced Engine Performance

Hey guys,

I picked up a 2020 v8 vantage not too long ago and I just started to get the following error: "reduced engine performance service required" ...I'll add to this that the battery appears to be losing steam as I had to jump it the other day. Any ideas as to what this *could* be? Is it related to the battery?

Change your battery, that is most likely the issue. I've read about many other owners in the new Vantage that have this issue and the problem is solved with a new battery. The fact that you think your battery is bad almost certainly makes it the most logical culprit.

Copy that, I had seen one person report it but good to know others have solved this issue with a simple battery swap.

When you swap the battery it is easiest if you remove the fuse box above the battery. I believe it is only two bolts that old it in place. Let us know if it solves your issue.

i suspect that replacing batteries and concomitant charging system components has increasingly become a first line response to many problems is that many systems are run by computers and they have strict voltage requirements and refuse to work properly otherwise. additionally, their only recourse when insufficient electricity is provided is to offer a warning signal on the dashboard and refuse to perform altogether.

Dealer did full CPO inspection, found battery did fail the load test and is being replaced to the tune of $1200 (high to me). Car has been running fine for a week now regardless of batttery state.

WOW! You were really charged $1200 for the battery? Or was that Battery, installation, and CPO inspection?

I haven't agreed to them doing any of the work yet, that's just what the quote has. $680 battery, 433 labor, 1114 total, so not quite 1200 but yeaaaaa. I've used AGM batteries before and never spent over $350 for one so $680 feels absurd.

I don't know what your mechanical abilities are but if you can do such things, just replace it yourself. I can't imagine a quality battery being more than $300 +/-.

Go you your local Napa store. Napa batteries are excellent quality, a new one is $240.00.

Completely agree with the DIY: $240 https://shop.advanceautoparts.com/p/...agm/10866724-P

$1,114 is way too much . . . I had similar issues and replacing the battery made the electrical gremlins go away-- KH

It is frequently due to a seized exhaust valve.

I replaced my OEM with diehard platinum in the link... IT IS THE ONLY AFTERMARKET AGM BATTERY THAT WILL FIT IN THE 2019+ MY. It has the same outer caseing and height as the OEM.
