Bigger tyres on DB9.2

Hi,
i have had my 2013 for around 6 months now, fantastic car. Only issue i have is i feel the ride could be a little softer especially on terrible UK roads. My question is has anyone went from stock 245/35/29, 295/30/20 to something with a bit more rubber. I’m thinking 245/40, 295/35? I dobe similar on a previous Maserati GT with great results and no issues. I understand the speedo will be out slightly but not bothered about that. Any info appreciated.
thanks

I think it’s a great idea, as long as there are no clearance issues.

Redpants has video about doing this on the Vantage. When i replaced my original tires with Michelin PS4S, I did the larger size and can say that on the Vantage it's a very nice looking wheel arch filler upgrade, provides a little more ground clearance (I think something minimal like 5mm), and gives you a larger contact patch as well. I would do it again for certain. I'm not sure on sizing for the DB9, but that video is interesting.

Could you mount 19" with appropriate size tires?

What brand of tires and how old are they? Age and brand can make a huge difference in ride quality.

This is a good calculator to play around with sizes. https://tiresize.com/comparison/

I am running 20” HRE rims on my vantage with 265/35/20 up front and 315/35/20 in the rear..had 30s up front before and 25s on the rear..I am loving the improved ride with the extra sidewall…no noticeable difference in performance…but the rim is better protected from our poor roads..

Hi,
thanks for all the replies, i think going up the size gives about 1/2” more rubber and i think this will make a difference and thinkbthey wiuld fit ok. I currently have MSPS 4s tyres and are practically brand new. I also believe they have stiffer sidewalls to other brands. Looking at Eagle assymetric as a possibility. I thinkni went one size wider and one size up on the sidewall too and it was perfect. Not sure if i could do the same on the DB9, bit more homework to do.
thanks again

I went from P Zero Nero to the OEM Bridgestone Potenza's and noticed the ride was more supple. I read good things on the Goodyear Eagle's. Lotus has them standard on the Emira.

I had a shop put 1inch of high density foam into the driver's seat and it made such a world of a difference. Highly recommend.

Was that a shop in the Bay Area?

Yes. No where fancy. Just a local upholstery place ABC Auto Upholstery. Was $200/side

I have a sportpack car and what I'm finding is that they are setup much firmer than anything else in the lineup. So I too was originally thinking of up-sizing tires or fitting the adaptive dampers from the DBS.

I could see the faint outline of the seat heater in the driver's seat so I thought let me try sort that first. It made such a world of difference I'm not going to change anything else. It fixed every problem I had with the ride quality.

Saw this old thread and couldn’t resist adding: I’ve had good luck running a slightly wider rear setup, but only after double‑checking the actual measured section width since some brands run “fat.” Has anyone here tried pairing a wider rear with a slightly taller profile to keep the speedo closer to stock? Curious how that affected ride comfort on the Gen 2.

I’d keep the upsizing modest and watch the offset, especially up front, since even a few millimeters can make the liners complain on tight turns. I had a similar juggling act on another car after using a local service for a changement de pneu camion lourd Montreal, so I’ve gotten picky about clearances. On the DB9, a small bump in width works fine if the tire profile stays close to stock.
