Vanquish 6 speed auto to 8 speed transmission conversion - possible?

I really love how the 8-speed transmission feels in the 2015+ Vanquish and have been on the hunt for a 2015+ Vanquish to replace my 2014 for over a year but can't land on the right spec. I just looked up a price for the 8-speed ZF8HP70 transmission and they range $4k - $6k, which I can live with. Does anyone know what else would be involved in swapping a 8-speed ZF8HP70 into a 13/14 Vanquish, especially the electronics?

The entire engine management system would need to be replaced, but then even if you could pull that part off, I don't think supporting (interfacing) systems would be compatible such as ABS, Active Handling, security, etc.

The mechanical part, (if that's possible) would, by far, be the easy part.

Early Vanquish's are in demand. You'll get a great price on your car should you sell it.

Do you mean early as in a Gen1 Vanquish or early as in a 2013/2014 Vanquish?

Do you happen to know the specifics? Is there a write-up that I can source?

Gaydon built Vanquish.

As Mat has just cracked the Bosch ECUs (He has a 6 speed VQ 310) I guess he will know how to do it.
That is precisely what I was thinking. Who is Mat? Is he with a shop?

We will look at what is involved. Need to pull a dump off an 8 Speed car and compare to the 6 speed one.
Wonderful, thank you! Will stand by for your discovery.

Anton, I have an 05 DB9 that needs a V12 rebuild due to the tick. While in there I figured I would explore bulletproofing the 6HP26 with upgraded clutches a Sonnax kit, 6R80 upgrades and a billet torque converter. While researching this it seems I found a viable upgrade path for us wanting to upgrade our 6 speeds to 8 speeds. Check this out:

https://www.8speed.au/products/bmw-e...conversion-kit

I just asked him about the feasibility of doing this to my Aston. I will report back on the correspondence.

Just got a response Anton.

@ZeroTo60Tube | Firstly anything is possible. However, there is no chassis canbus support for the Aston Martin currently. The issue is when you remove the 6hp all the other modules in the car freak out. It will normally go to limp mode. So if you remove the original transmission, you need a way to pretend its still there. That is what this setup does with the BMW (every chassis has different messages, these BMW messages on work for one specific version of BMW electronics). Or you program the rest of the car to not look for those messages any more. I would love to do a 8hp in one of these early DB9s.... I absolutely love them. One day, if can beg borrow and steel my way to one, i will work out the electronic side for the trans swap.
