I wanted to reach out to owners of the current gen Vantage. I recently purchased a 2020 AMR and from time to time the car will omit an audible chime for no apparent reason. I have the parking sensor button turned off. It will do this when driving down the highway with no traffic . There is nothing on the dash to tell me what this alarm is? The sound is the same sound as the parking sensor chime so I assume that is what I am hearing. Anyone able to shed any light on this chime ?
Not a new Vantage owner, but my DBX707 has a chime when you go over the posted speed limit. Needless to say, I went into the infotainment system and turned this feature off. Both vehicles are based on Mercedes tech, so perhaps this is what you are experiencing as well.
Initially I thought a speed sensor might be the cause of the chiming. My car does this at low speed and I noticed the other night that it was chiming in the garage while sitting. Every time it chimes on the road, it will stop after a short while. I am surprised that there is nothing on the dash to tell the driver why it is beeping ? It has only happened a few times, so for now I am just going to ignore it and throttle up when it beeps at me. I will say that I am suprised with all of the tech that my car did not have anything to say about the winter blizzard I drove through last Sunday. It was 16 degrees and sleeting and I never saw any kind of ice warning on the dash. Not that I needed the car to tell me that conditions were sketchy, I just assumed that it would have something on the dash for these type of conditions. I do have to say that as I saw the temps dropping and the sleet falling, I pu the car in standard mode and stayed easy on the throttle and it was a nice comfy drive home in rather horrible conditions.
No chiming for me. My new one however has one strange habit. While hooked up to the trickle charger the windshield wipers will mover every once in a while.
A little spooky….

Interesting comments about the charging. Can you fill in a few holes for me?
What AM/MY?
What type of charger? Are you using a maintainer or Trickle charger?
Where is the charger connected in the car?
How long does the charger stay connected W/O disconnecting and startup? (Hours, days, weeks?)
Are the WW wipers just jogging or making a sweep? When - at initial charger hookup? Or later after hookup and at what estimated frequency?
I keep my DB11 V12 on a maintainer when in my garage and I get a quirky situation (not with wipers) that I can expand after you reply.
And, to OP, so not to steer your thread off course, I too will occasionally get a "mild, soft" tone that doesn't appear related to any condition and no dash messages either. Will occur when driving/moving and doesn't align with any situation I can ID such as a lane assist warning (too soft a tone for that).
New 23 roadster. My 2020 coupe did the same thing. The trickle charger is the recommended Cteck brand. The wipers just do a slight but noticeable hop.
the charger I’d connected to the rear.
I use the car on sunny days and hook it up when in my garage so the length of time can be a few days or longer if traveling.
OK, got it - So you have the battery maintainer, CTEK, connected via the magnetic port, correct? Sounds like the wipers are doing a jolt right at hookup.
On my DB11 V12 I have the magnetic port in the back but I use a direct connect from the front power distribution panel. I use the CTEK connector with the ring terminals, + to the battery wire under the cover, - ground to the chassis ground as shown. The short CTEK 6" pigtail stays connected with the car, then just plug/unplug the CTEK using its connector.
If I leave the CTEK connected for several days (two weeks or more) w/o disconnecting or starting the car; twice now I've lost the driver's window setting. So, it wouldn't do the half inch drop until I reset the door module. That's pretty quirky and unexplainable.
And, the subtle chime I've heard (very rarely) while driving doesn't seem to relate to anything. Only thing I can say, is with all the antennas in the windshield and the radar for blindspot, a stray signal must be the cause.
My 2009 manual Vantage did this all the time, but when it happened the gear indicator in the instrument panel would show the R for reverse. At highway speeds, low speeds, whenever. I troubleshot it to a connector on the transmission for the reverse gear sensor. Cleaned the contacts inside the connector with isopropyl alcohol, made sure it was firmly connected, and it never happened again.
Bwings…why not use the magnetic port as it’s more convenient? Much thanks for the conversation.
I like the more hard (harder) connection. Just personal.
Bentley also uses a factory installed magnetic port. When I had my Bentley CGT, a couple owners complained the magnetic port did not make the electrical connection even though the magnet part worked and appeared connected. They had dead battery experiences because of it. At times, my DB11 can sit for a couple weeks w/o starting up so the connection is made once and I can walk away not checking it until I am ready to use the car.

Well, this is embarrassing....I found what the "Stray Chimes" are that I hear, occasionally, and not seemingly related to any system in the car. I use an MP3 music file for tunes in the car. One of the songs I have on the list is Clocks by ColdPlay. I realize now, the mystery chimes I hear are actually in the recording at approx 1:36.
If you play it at that point, you can hear a double chime that sounds just like the chime sounds the car system will generate for various features. I'm very sure now, this is the source of my mystery car chimes.
