Has anyone found a sleek way to install a Magsafe charger phone mount in a AM V8V? Mine has no navigation or Bluetooth, so I am looking to also install something like the Mr12Volt Bluetooth streaming device, I want the car to look as close to stock as possible, with no visible wires.
That's a good thought, but can they be manually opened or is that going to be a whole new level of engineering?
The lower left and right corners of the ski slope are the same, but the shadows are different. Basically the ski slope curvature doesn't exactly match the curvature of the radio panel below so its not flush at either side. The panel gap fit is OK though.
The flip-up nav door gets attached to the nav screen. It's the nav screen that powers up & down. So without a nav screen the nav door is easily opened/closed by hand. In fact, it will probably flap around while driving. You'll need some kind of latch or friction fit to keep it closed.
Note that the nav door is hinged on the ski slope, so again, no issue without nav.
The problem will be hiding the wires if you mount it anywhere on the dash. If you just want the MagSafe magnet without the charging then the following might work for you.
That’s a pretty elegant solution also. But I think I like option A better, to buy a navigation ski slope trim and build a MagSafe phone mount inside the flap. Probably need some 3d printing experimentation and a hinge/latch mechanism.
i ordered one just now off eBay to play with.

Step 1: Ideas gathering and mocking up.
I'll pick up some Magsafe car chargers and figure out a way to incorporate them into some 3D printed parts that go on the flap and make the inside of the flap hole into a cubby. The Magsafe will be wired to switched 12V so it charges only when the car is running. Maybe make an intercept wiring harness to the starter button so it is plug and play, no splicing. Need to come up with some way of keeping the flap in the open and closed positions. Maybe magnets?

Some small progress. 3D printed prototype in hand with lid ski slope. Also I will make an intercept harness (to power the MagSafe and Bluetooth module) that sits between the vehicle harness and the starter button so no cutting or splicing of wires is needed. The MagSafe is powered by a 12V - USB-C adapter from Amazon and sits in the little box beneath the MagSafe puck.
Getting closer. The electronics are connected up and the audio all works fine, but the weight of the phone causes it to close. I need to make a latch with magnets or something to hold it open.
