I bought one of those from ambits a few months ago to tidy up my worn valet key. You just swap the internals from your old one to the new one. That includes the little chip that's glued in and has to be cut out, moved, and glued in to the new case. Easy.
If you want to spend more, these guys will do pretty much anything "phoenixbespokekeys . com/product/aston-martin-glass-ecu-key-button-upgrade/"
That company does some cool stuff and although pricey it seems less expensive than buying another key or housing from Aston.
I guess I will find out just how this will work....based upon your (collective) recommendations I just ordered a Astonbits replacement key fob and look forward to fiddling with it- removing the guts from my old one into the new one.
If your key still works, it's also possible to buy the 2nd key as a cage / service part (buttons, screws etc) without the inner board that you just need to transfer. It's part # 9G43-19H477-CA for the 315MHz and 9G43-19H477-DA for the 433MHz . You might be able to get it cheaper than a whole replacement key

Is this “cage” basically the complete outer case with the only thing missing being the little green circuit board inside? In the picture it appears that the little PATS chip is even included…is that correct?
