Lift pucks

Hi all, maybe a daft q, but what kind of "pucks" do you use when lifting your car on a scissor lift? Mine is a 06V8V, and I`m afraid to damage the plastic that wraps around the sills...

Cheers
Jørgen

You can special order from https://hsmprecision.us/collections/...rtin-jack-pads. Or do like I did and ordered ones off amazon and cut them to shape, they work well. I ordered Porsche ones.

Do you need to remove the plastic covers from the holes before using these pads? Or they can stay in place?

Yes you need to remove the plastic covers. I used some modeling clay and pushed it up to make a template and then cut the Porsche ones down and they fit right inside those holes just like the ones from HMS precision. Not a pretty as his but they work well.

I have a set of Tesla jack pads. I cut the “guide” off and now it’s just a hockey puck. Worked well when I installed the secondary cat delete pipes.

I just use the big rectangular rubber blocks that came with my QuickJacks. The sill plastic is very robust and does not crack even if the rubber blocks overlap it a bit. Honestly I think getting something custom fitted is over-thinking things a bit. I very highly doubt that any service shop, including the AM dealers, use anything other than the typical rubber blocks that come with their lifting equipment.

I like using the HSM Precision pads with my Quickjack. It makes it really easy to line up the pads with the rubber blocks for a secure and safe lift.

I used to do this but found that at the jack points is where the front wheel will liner also attaches... so i use the pucks when I have to remove them

Yes, you’re spot on. I’ve noticed this and scratched my head on how to remove the wheel well liner when the time comes (I haven’t had to do that yet). I also have a 4 post lift so currently my tentative plan is to undo those fasteners while on the 4 post, and then bend the liners away slightly to lift the car on the QuickJacks. We shall see…

Hockey pucks. No overthinking needed.
