Vanquish coolant sensor

Tonight my Vanquish dash light showed high temperature stop and the coolant gauge went to max temperature. I checked the coolant and it was fine no signs of a leak. The fans were running full blast. I think it might be a coolant sensor. The car has a timeless warranty but the dealer is about 100 miles away. If it is an easy fix I might try it myself. I found the sensor and will see if I can get a replacement at the auto parts store tomorrow.

On my 2006 DB9 the coolant sensor is a Ford part with a Ford part number on it. $26 at the local parts store, $475 at the dealer...

If you have a digital multimeter you might remove it and put it in a pot of water on the stove. You can test it pretty easily by observing any impedance change as the temp goes up (or lack there of!).

Well I replaced the coolant temperature sensor and it still does the same. Temperature gauge is pegged to hot and the message says to stop and the fans are running. So I think I will call Aston Martin Orlando. The car has a timeless warranty, so might as well have them fix it.

Don't ever hesitate to use the warranty...that is what it is for. Towing, repair and delivery back to you is covered.
Thanks,
JH

Just got the car back from Aston Martin Orlando. They reset the codes and everything is good now. I guess that it was the coolant temperature sensor, but I didn’t reset the codes. All is good now. They have a beautiful new Vanquish finished in green with a tan interior. $551,000. Very nice but I’ll keep my red one. The also have a special Aston that was 2.7 million, that’s just crazy and finished in a flat black.
