DB9 versus V12VS engine characteristics

Hi, is there a material difference between the DB9 engine character (low redline, torque-y, slow to rev) and a 2017 V12 Vantage S with a dogleg manual 7speed?

I know that the V12VS had VVTI versus the original 2011 V12V with the 6sp. But, like most large displacement engines, they are typically torque-y versus light, fast-revving motors like a 911 GT3 engine. As an aside, somehow the Ferrari V12s seem more like the GT3 motor.

Thanks in advance for any perspectives.

For what it is worth, an Aston Martin employee inferred to me the non VVTI engines are a longer lasting and more reliable.
