Copper washer for 4.3
Copper washer for 4.3
I am getting ready to do an oil change for the season. But I was wondering on the size of the copper washer for the oil tank. I have gone to all the local auto parts stores and they dont have an exact match. Could you let me know? Thanks.
DORMAN 097-138 still available from RockAuto
Check out post #114 for details on the copper washer and other consumables:

at some point I bought a aluminum washer kit & copper washer kit from amazon. Assorted sizes in quantities that my future grand kids will appreciate... Has solved this problem a number of times.
Don't know why you couldn't find it...

Although it's not an exact replacement, I've been using Dorman #097-138 as a substitute for the AM OEM copper drain washer on the dry sump oil reservoir on my 2007 4.3 Vantage.
DORMAN -097-138: Metal; Size; M14; Inside Dia: 0.61"/15.6mm;
Outside Dia.: 0.94"/23.9mm; Thickness: 0.079"/2mm
AM: OD = 1.0"/25.4mm ID: 0.64"/16.25mm; Thickness (used):0.57"/1.45mm
Since the substitute is a bit smaller on the OD, you have to take a little care to center it when installing. Use at your own risk
.
Oil Drain Plug: Dorman 090-115: M14-1.5 w/13mm hex
Both are available from rockauto dot com: The copper washers are sold in a box of 10 for less than $10 + s/h ($0.94 each).
The drain plug is less than $3 + s/h.
I normally just replace the drain plug gasket rather than the whole assembly, as the metal part doesn't usually wear out
.
You can see the gaskets in the bottom of the photo; but I can't, at the moment, remember where I sourced them...senior moment I guess?
I suspect any good auto parts store can supply 14mm ID oil sump drain gaskets, if you choose to go that route (as well as M14-1.5 drain plugs at a cost less than AM charges).
The availability of the copper gaskets might be another story...
