Idler Pulley bearing replaced

Has anyone only replaced (press out and press in) the sealed bearing on the Idler or Feed Idler pulley instead of replacing the entire parts? I was wondering what size sealed bearing it would be if someone has done it before if not I will take those pulleys out tomorrow and start investigating what size those are. Thanks

You may be able to see bearing numbers and measure inner and outer diameter. I have a local bearing shop and the guy is very good at knowing what will work. In a pinch I've also popped off the seal and cleaned it up and put synthetic grease in. That works until you can get an actual replacement bearing.

From what I have seen it will be something like this but I will confirm today but like you say I will inspect the original and look for marking

17mm x 40mm x 12mm Deep Groove - High Precision, Pre-Greased

Just curious if you've priced the replacements? And, when you pull them are they marked maybe Ford or JLR?

If I'm understanding and If it is for your 2009, and if matched up, I see these on the replacement market in the $10 to $20 range.

Best,

I was quoted the following from Aston Martin Toronto (all price in Canadian $$$), all pulleys are marked Ford Motor Company but Ford, JLR and Aston Martin all use different numbers and from what I can tell there is no way to match them up.

6G3319A216BA = Idler = $79.20

6G336B209AC = Tensioner = $167.11 *special order*

9G3319A216AA = Idler = $102.04

Too bad what Aston did and continues to do with replacement parts. It is a system that forces you back to the factory parts bins at stupidly high prices.

I didn't have the time but took at quick look at one of your p/ns. A bunch of links came up, one of which was a complete rebuild kit (all the bearings) for the pulleys on your MY car. It was on Ebay.

I know I cannot post a link on this forum, but if you google the first p/n on your list and several links down it should come up.

And BTW, the similar idler pulleys in the same circa in JLR on Rock Auto are brand new in the $10/$20 range. Not a bearing kit but the whole pulley. I think if it were me I'd chance one or two of these at $10 to see if I can physically match it. RA will take returns if it doesn't fit.

Best,

Well my issue was the 6G3319A216BA Idler bearing, after removing the pulley and inspecting the bearing you could tell it wasn't very happy and grease started to come out of it. I found out that the original bearing was mark J37FE, and in a Ford F150 forums mentioned that a J37FE was NTN 6203

Bearing measurements are:

O.D - 40 mm
I.D - 17 mm
Width - 12 mm

I check locally and found some in stock for $5.99 cdn, pressed out the old one, press in the new one and reassemble everything. Now it is whisper quiet, well at least the pulley that is... lol
Here are a few pictures I took while I had both Idler out but at this time only the one needed a new bearing. Hope this help someone in the future
