Question Crystal Key Screws | Where to Buy?

I replaced the battery for the first time on my crystal key. When I took it apart, only two of the six micro screws were left. Where can I buy additional screws? Two were enough to keep it together, but all 6 would be nice.

What a pain to screw to micro screws in!

Does anyone know the dimensions of the screws? I'd assume just buy a bunch of them within the states.

I may go to one the next time I need the battery replaced. I can see why there are so many missing screws. Need specialized equipment to deal with something so micro!

When I bought my 2016 Timeless Certified V12S from Park Place Aston Martin, I sent my 2nd glass key (I bought new) from my V8 Vantage to Park Place to get programmed. They charged me $240 for the programming instead of the typical $400. Upon delivery in October, I tried to start the car with the original glass key which unlocked the car, but would not start the car. The reprogrammed key worked fine, and the spare plastic key, not the original key! Assuming it could be the battery, I took the key to Morries Cadillac in Golden Valley which until recently was also the Aston martin Dealer. At the parts department counter as I watched to learn, they took apart the key only to discover all those tiny screws were stripped, none were able to be tightened. Anyway, the battery was changed and the design itself held the key together. Since Morries was no longer an Aston Dealer and Aston pulled the software and tooling, they could not test the key's programming. At the time I did not have the service records, and after some demands weeks later I got the previous four or so years services which was nice. One of those records was at the Timeless Annual Service, the battery was replaced, so the screws being stripped were either at that point or a previous battery change. Either way, it's upsetting that they could deliver the car with clearly a defective key. Not sure how the key itself got 'deprogrammed'. Aston Martin is aware of the issue and probably won't be addressed unto the next annual in the fall. The key also came with the original key card to program, but the numbers are smudged some illegible, so that's another issue. The screws are fine, the holes the screws go into were stripped.

If you have two keys that will start the car you can program a third key to start it. It's a DIY procedure that's documented in a couple of threads on here.

The two key trick

The two key trick I used on Programming my plastic key from a previous Vantage to the V8 as I had two glass keys. It worked to start the car but not unlock the doors. In the case of my V12S, the bad glass keys locks and unlocks, so when the spring is sprung and I start the car I'll try that first thing. Like an idiot I forgot about that trick which I actually used before... thanks for the reminder!

To setup the unlocking of door you need the Code for the key

i think you are inquiring if the screws in the link are the correct size? i haven't tried them as no need yet to access the battery again...i suspect it will be another year before i bother. but Mark indicated those were the ones he used so give them a try
