I am unsure what to do next. I do have problems with my driver door glass not always dropping enough to clear the top, despite many attempts to reset it. I am tempted to replace both modules if I can buy them right. Pricing seems to vary quite a bit between vendors. I have a call in to my dealer to see about flashing new modules.
I don't think the module I need is available new. Not sure about yours. I know the general opinion is that new ones need to be flashed, but I did see a Facebook post where a guy said he replaced both modules with new ones and they both worked fine right out of the box. Maybe he just got lucky, but lucky on two of them??? I don't remember the specifics about year or model of the car. May be worth trying if you can find them new. You may also want to check ebayUK for a used one...then you'll have to hope they'll ship to the US.

I am no expert on this whatsoever, but it does seem that I can buy the DB9 door modules new. Prices seem to be all over the place.

My understanding is the only way to get them to work without a dealer flash is if they come from the exact same car (in my case a DB9.2 Volante). I have no idea if the new modules you can buy from the various parts suppliers have any software flash on them at all.

There are a few Aston experts lurking here. Maybe they could chime in on this issue.

Contact astonmartinbits by email. They're very knowledgeable about door modules & matching them to your car.

Thanks. Just did that. Module prices seem almost too good to be true.

You should be able to swap without programming if they're verified to come from the *exact* same specification of car and swapping like for like with old style or new pektron. Changing type always results in a vehicle CCF edit and reflash of the CEM and door modules. Also, ordering from GB won't work for this since the driver/passenger modules are swapped left to right. The result will be the windows and mirrors will operate inverted. Undesirable. I ran into this with mine and the fix was a flash and VIN relearn with my AMDS.

Also, make sure you have a good history on any modules. Check VINs online for the vehicle salvage reason. Reject any ebay listings where you find flood damage. You'd be shocked how many there are.

That’s for sure. All 3 modules I have inquired about so far were all from Florida flood cars. The module looks
unsealed, so no chance that’s worth the risk.

Door module

I'm sending mine off to be repaired. Hopefully it's successful and I'll update the results when I get it back. I couldn't find an exact match used one and Aston Bits said the new ones have to be replaced in pairs and require AMDS flashing. It's $250 for the repair so that's obviously a bargain if it works out.

I sent it to Module Experts in Jacksonville, FL. They were confident they could repair it. Of course, that's pending inspection upon receipt. They were easy to talk to and seem knowledgeable.

Off topic but the reason for this was that Floirda had several big storms that caused historic floor during the period where these cars were popular like Storm Debby (2012) and Irma 2017, and then extreme rainfall (1 in a 1000 years) in 2023. So many cars during these periods got ruined so they got salvaged and broken down for parts.

Let me know how it goes. It may be my only
option. I ordered a new module from AstonMartinbits and they canceled my order saying they don’t have any. I have been calling my (semi local) dealer in Boston for days now and no return calls from anyone in service there.

I don’t know of any independent shops with AMDS in Massachusetts, Connecticut, or Rhode Island……anyone?

I'll let you know. It'll probably be a week or so. AMDS access is my biggest problem. Closest dealer is a 6 hour drive one-way and they're pretty bad. Next closest is 7 hours.

If they can repair it without corrupting the software, you should be good to go!

Astonmartinbits just informed me (just as you reported) that the Pektron modules have been discontinued and now superseded with new versions that much like the older cars must be replaced in pairs at a very high cost and programmed by the dealer.

We are looking at many thousands in parts, labor and programming because of this, so there may be a good market for repair if they can figure it out!
