Missing items from S5...

Ok, I'm going from a 2005 C55 to a new S5. However, I feel this car is missing some important luxuries a 60k car should have which my C55 already does. Here is what I have so far. Now, since I'm picking up the car today from the dealer some of this "might" be incorrect so please chime in if it is...

No AUTO down or up for passenger window.
No power adjusting steering wheel.
No memory seating on passenger side.
No convenient entry and exit system for steering wheel and seat.
No power head rest (not a biggie but it sure is nice to have).
Heated seats do not automatically back off the intensity over time.
No DVD/DTS audio decoding from stereo. Only does surround sound replication. (my c55 doesn't do this but new ones do as do many other vehicles, new and old)

I know this is probably some pretty petty stuff to a lot of people here, but I have grown accustomed to these luxuries and also expect them now in a new car which costs 60k. Heck, my C55 was less than 60k and it has a significantly more powerful engine. I don't know, I'm not starting this thread to just complain, but to get other people's thoughts on this. I am somewhat beginning to regret my purchase and maybe I just need a little reassurance.

Thoughts?

I have had my S5 since last Friday and I can understand what you mean. The car that was replaced was a 07 LS so I can tell you that I have been used to the features you describe as missing in the S5. All I can say is you will not miss those things they mean nothing really!!!. The car is amazing from the style to the performance and I haven't even really opened it up yet. I consider myself and audiophile so I can say that the stereo is very good but nowhere near the Levenson System in the LS, but these features will not be missed. Trust ME

I'm actually a bit disappointed and surprised to hear that the B&O doesn't sound as good as the Levinson system. I hope it is at least close... I have an HK in my C55 so that should be somewhat of an upgrade.

it's not that it is not good, just not as dynamic. For example on certain albums listened to side by side you can almost get a sense of being there in the Lex. The Lexus has been rated as the best OEM sound system and truthfully I have heard most of the topend ones, and I concur. I read recently an edmunds stereo review where the they said the only system they heard better then the Audi was the Lexus. They rated it an A- where as the Lex was A+. On another note the Audi definetly integrates the Ipod better then the Lex. "You won't be dissapointed" I know I keep saying that!

You couldn't be any more right Golf!

Took the car home last night and I'm ear to ear on my decisicion to get into an S5. Oh, and yes the B&O is quite good! Also, the MMI was as good or better than you led me to believe!

This has been the longest work day ever!

For a long time I was wondering why the S5 is 10k more than a 335Ci. Well, now I know.

Thanks again.

keep in mind the B&O system in the S5 is completely diff than the one in the A8/Q7's. it's a $850 option v. a $6,300 option. Also, IMO memory for the passenger??? why? it's a GT/Sport sedan. not a Lux cruiser. Audi intended the car to straddle the line between all out perf. coupes like an M3 and the Lux ones like the CLK's, albeit a bit biased twords the sportier side of things. I mean, right now you can't even get an Auto box'.

BTW enjoy it in good health. the S5 is one h*** of a performer. I was very impressed, after just a few laps around homestead back on October. I was not expecting it to turn in and rotate the way it did. It's a very well rounded car.

The only thing on your list I actually would like to have in my S5 is the heated seats cooling off. Man those things get hot!

While I agree the S5 is very expensive for what it is when compared to other cars in this price range. I think the build quality is superior in comparison to what MB or BMW have to offer in this price range.

I have had my S5 since Nov 2 and love the car. Now granted the car had 26 miles on it and got AP brakes all the way around and 20" HRE's and we are developing additional parts for the car - Suspension- sway bars- exhaust - downpipes- airbox- software etc.

I was a little disappointed in the car having had a E46 M3 and I was hoping to have that raw feeling that M3 has. But after time I have come to appreciate what the car does offer its build quality is better and with some mild modfications it can be a great car..

It has grown on me. And above all I dont see myself coming and going everywhere I go in SoCal.

I give it thumbs up!!! Great car.!

I love the setup on your car Fabryce. I plan on doing those wheels on mine. Hows the exhaust coming from the car? WHat kind of realistic power gains are you expecting from your exhaust, airbox, and Giac software? I feel Audi really did a good job with the sound of the stock exhaust, but I would just love it to be alittle bit louder with the same great tone, and maybe more agressive tips

Milltek already has one which sounds decent I think and does have the agressive piping.

While I do think the build quality is good, my S5 ALREADY has a rattle and it's driving me nuts because the sound is right in my ear.

The overhead microphone on the roof has something loose inside the plastic and I'll have to bring my brand new car into the dealer to get it looked at. I DO NOT want any strangers driving my brand new car around! I'm upset becaue my C55 has 22.5k HARD miles on it AND was T-Boned and to this day still doesn't have a single rattle or noise coming from inside the cabin.
