Planned out my nitrous for the S4

So i planned out my nitrous setup for my S4. I will put it in this summer and use the winter to collect all the parts and start making some.

I am going to run a 75 wet shot with a purge valve. However, I had nitrous express kit on my BMW and found the purge felt like wasting perfectly good nitrous.

I have decided to make a spray bar that goes over the intake manifold on both sides. When i hit the purge valve it will spray the intake with COLD nitrous. Should work great in the hot, humid Memphis summers.

I am going to mount the bottle in the compartment on the right side of the trunk. One composite 10 pound bottle should do the trick.

As I want to start entering my car in shows i will probably get the spray bar chromed to look pretty in the engine. There will be no problems with heat and chrome will there?

This and the Vorsteiner hood should help lower my underhood temps.

Wish me luck,
Paul

i respect you to have the ***** to post something like that in here. but then again there noting wrong with nitrous. sounds like a good set up. (not a nitrous expert!). but my opinion is to do more research on supercharger set ups and what not. nitrous is just a fast, cheap way to get a car fast. Audis are refined german cars that deserve better than an explosion in the combustion. but thats just me (dont mean to sound like an ***). good luck man keep us updated

No problem, I would do a supercharger but the only production unit is the MTM which is close to $25K. Apr is supposed to be working on a unit but has been saying it will be coming out in two weeks for the last 2.5 years.

Also, AWE, GIAC, and VF engineering are also supposed to be working on a kit. So far no one has actually seen a supercharged B6 or B7 S4 other than the MTM units, Which i believe there are only two in the US.

Most people are speculating that AWE and APR both scrapped the project. It would have been nice though.

Nitrous plays the devil's advocate ALOT. If it is set up right, it is perfectly safe and does mimimal harm to the engine. Less harm than a supercharger would do. This is of course using things such as a WOT switch, window switch, and bottle warmer to monitor pressure. However, when done wrong you will have one large melted pile of aliuminium sitting under your hood.

Hey man good for you. Run a nitrous set up. When done right there's nothing wrong with it.
I would give you a small recommendation, that is talk to ASR Engeering in Miami. Speak to Abid, he is brilliant and knows how to do nitrous.
I've been running a NOS set up for months that he did in my E60 M5. The car is a savage beast and no problems. The management of the system is done with a special ECU flash specifically to handle the nitrous.
I am thinking of doing my RS4 (if I don't get rid of it) with a NOS kit.
My M5 dyno'ed 581 rwhp and we're running near 11 sec flat on the 1/4 mile.

The MTM supercharger is ridiculous, who'll pay $30K for this mod. As you said APR and AWE both seem to have bagged the project. This car (RS4) is a dead end.

Good luck to you and your efforts,

GT3Ranger

hey GT3 ranger, Do you think think there will be any good advantage from running the purge valve to spray onto the intake manifold. I figured it would be good to help heat soak while sitting in traffic or for a quick cool down before a highway pull. I figured it has to be better than just wasting it spraying it on the outside on the car.

Plus, the look of nitrous coming out of the vents in the vorsteiner hood will look SICK!!!

DUDE, dont scrap the RS4, i just got a Milltek Full-Back. Do this with some Ohlins and see how well a 4K lbs car can sound and corner.
