For all you RS4 IBIS white owners do you guys notice a slight color difference..

in the rear and front bumper of the cars because it is plastic? I'm about to pick up an ibis white 07 and noticed it. I'd had a friend go check out the car and he also noticed it when in direct light and with the camera's flash. I was wondering if this was a normal ocurrance on this car. I noticed it in on both the car I'm about to buy and a picture of an ibis white car at the audi factory. Please chime in. Was it a production defect? What do you guys think?

Car I'm planning to buy..

The car is perfectly fine. The reason the color looks a little bit off is cause of the shade and lack of sunlight. If it makes you feel any better, go get the paint on the car tested.

So you notice the same thing on your car? It's just a characteristic of Ibis white in the shade I guess then? These pictures look fine? I appreciate you chiming in.

I've never noticed it. I guess it's because I live in sunny socal. LOL!! But even if it was cloudy, I think the car looks much better. It gets that cool white that I've always wanted. Don't let the color get to you. It is an amazing exclusive color that many people want to get their hands on.

A little difference is always going to be present when you paint different materials-the cost of taking that into account and changing the shade accordingly would be prohibitively high.

Guy's just a quick update on my situation and a big thank you to Barrier Audi here in the Seattle area.

Quick recap. I took my car into Barrier to show them the problem of the mismatch bumpers. My bumpers were clearly a entire shade different from the rest of the car. It had a yellow tint and is very apparent in the shade. I guess this is where the Seattle gloom came in handy.

Prior to this I took the car to the repair shop that Barrier uses and got a written opinion on the discoloration. They informed me that yes the paint may be a bit off because of the plastic but not to the point that my bumpers were showing. I mean it was visually different. He said they should match at least as good as the door handle and molding which are both plastic pieces. I agreed.

Long story short, I took my car and opinion from their painters back to the service rep who right of the bat agreed that the paint should not be this off. He kindly agreed to elevate the situation to the regional service manager. He said paint warranty work must approved by regional. They snap some pictures, sent the pictures off to the rep and a week later my car's getting new bumpers, rocker panels and color matched to rest of the car.

Needless to say, I'm impress with the professionalism in the matter and highly recommend Barrier Audi.

Car should be done in a few days. Finally!

The car you are looking at buying is an Ibis White RS4.

The car you are comparing it to is an Ibis White RS4 with Titanium Package. (Black window trim and gunmetal wheels.)

So the contrast between black/white and silver/white might have caused the discrepancy you see between the colors.

I highly doubt it. After seeing the car with there own eyes, the dealer and service reps seem to agree finally! I'm getting it resolved and hopefully a happy ending after all.

Shade or no shade, California or Germany, its obvious the colors DO NOT match. Definitely a factory defect or bad auto collision repair.

Bottom line, I'm glad to hear Audi is going to get you matching bumpers.

alot of audis are like that. certain angles is the way the light his as well as materials of the plastic bumpers and the metal fenders and quarter panels reflect light differently

Good Luck my regional rep turned down my request flat. And mine are worse than yours...If you get a positive response please let me know as I will rehash it with Audi. If all he does is look at it with his eye please do me a favor and ask him this.

What is the color standard? How can he tell by eye how much it should match?

It is common knowledge that no two people see color in the exact same way. If he denies your request ask him what makes his eye the standard. And why he isn't using a colorimter, the one and only true way to know what the difference is in the shades.

Push him to answer all your questions...this mismatch is a joke and Audi knows it.

I have a white B7 S4, I don't think all the colors match up either.

Response was positive, my car is currently gettting new parts and paint as we speak. It should be ready Friday. I will post pictures of the result.

When I pick up the car I will ask those questions for you. My rep was great and once he saw the car with his own eye he knew right away that it would bother him.
