Delivery miles on an R8

For all those that have received their R8; how many miles were on the car when you picked it up? I saw mine today (ordered over a year ago) for the first time and I was shocked at the number of miles on the car.

Yes, over 100. The dealer stated that Audi does an extensive break in with the R8 in specific. However, I see some R8s on sale on websites that advertise as low as 19 miles. It doesn't make sense to me that some would come with 19 miles and some would come with >100 miles.

This is a car that I ordered over 1 1/2 ago, so there shouldn't be any "test drives" on the car.

You can call the Audi Factory in Germany and ask them how many miles was on the car when it left they track everything.

There was a thread about this on R8talk. I guess each car is tested at the factory before shipping, but then many dealers also feel the need to "test" the car again during dealer prep. This second testing is crap, and is just the service manager and/or others joy-riding your new car.

They should all have at least 25 miles on the vehicle. We put that amount even on our cheapest of VWs. If they aren't putting at least that amount on the vehicle, they aren't doing a correct pre-delivery inspection.

No more than 40. Over 40 means someone was joyriding.

Funny thing 993fan.

I saw your R8 leading Le Mans in the GT2 class until the driver burned up the clutch. I hope they replaced the clutch before delivery.

Will take delivery tomorrow, but saw the car today at the dealership still covered with delivery tape. Looked at the odometer, 37 miles, I wonder how many after dealer "test drive".
