Test Drove 09 A4 Last Night...
I'm looking at getting a 2009 2.0 A4 TFSI Premium Plus. The way the car felt was extremely disappointing. I don't know what I was going to expect, but it felt really slow. The handling was goo, but not as good as a BMW 3 Series. Overall, I had mixed feelings.
I'm aware that it only has 211 hp, but with mods and some work that can get bumped up. I only just read that the 2.0's are FWD. Weren't all quattros suppose to be AWD? I'm pretty much stuck between the A4 and a 328i Coupe. I love the way a BMW drives, but I wanted something different and I was hoping the new Audi was going to be it.
So, any advice on which way I should go? It also helps that BMW offers the first 4 years or 50,000 miles no cost for maintenance deal.

If its Quattro, its AWD with a rear-bias. They are underpowered but you get pretty good gas mileage back in return.
The TT and A3 uses the Haldex system for AWD (front bias) instead of Quattro.

FYI... BMW just had a refresh on the 3 series sedans for 09. You really can't go wrong with either car, good luck with your decision.
I drove the 2.0T and 3.2, both Quattro. I was really impressed with the 2.0T, felt much faster then the 09 328xi I drove. To me, the Audi was better in every category and an improvement from the b7 platform.
A4 all the way. A dose of software (APR for example) can give you a 50whp increase in about an hour. I have done all sorts of dyno testing on the 2.0's and the A4 can be modded alittle or alot.... One thing to watch out for is if you go with a downpipe as part of your build, there are 2 different pipe specs depending on where your car was originally shipped to by Audi AG. They are called the east coast and west coast versions and there is actually spec # however I don't recall the coding off hand. It has to do with o2 sensors where the east coast cars have a different o2 sensor configuration. If anyone needs equipment, send me a PM and I can put some packages together for you.

. At the end of the day, it is guys like me who pay to be here to keep these forums alive so I like to throw down some info on top of letting people know they can count on me when the time comes both local and on a national level. I really don't call my sales pitch a sales pitch, more like I believe in all the products I sell/install and they have to do everything they say they are supposed to in order for me to get behind them. Part of that has to do with in-house testing as well as customer feedback so when you get something from me, you know that:A. It is a quality product
B. Does what it is supposed to do
C. We stand behind everything we sell/do
D. And my vendors/manufacturers stand behind me
I love what I do for a living and I hope the people here gain some sort of information from my posts and if I move a few pieces because of those post, it is a win win on both ends.
Cheers,
Brian
i test drove the new 2.0 A4 as well... and felt very sluggish to me. I'm shopping DD, so it doesn't need to be very fast, but i was a bit disappointed. Brian, you mention 50 HP gain from an APR flash? What else do you have to offer? I'm curious because if i get this car, it's going to be a lease, thus whatever mods i put into this car needs to be easily reversible.

Software
Full Exhaust Systems
Some Intercoolers
Big Brake Kits ( I am a HUGE Stoptech house)
Sway Bars
Coilovers
DV's to replace the electronic version
Radar systems and a few more items as well..
Some things that could be reversed with some extra work:
Upgraded Turbo Systems
Window Tinting
Radar Systems (No problem if no holes are drilled)
Stereo Systems etc...
I hope I was able to answer your questions and also to let the community know, mail ordering (via phone or email) is no problem at POG, you don't have to be local for me to service you but please note that any products would need to be shipped to the credit card billing address.
Have a great weekend guys!!!

This has got me interested. 50 whp from a reflash? Any dyno sheets? What year A4's? How is the reliability of the 2.0T? How much power can the stock turbo handle? Stock block/head? Is a lightly modded A4 better/cheaper than say a B7 S4?
the 2.0t has been revised for this year, but the prior version has been a really fantastic engine in its class...reliable, powerful (for what it is) and efficient. great in combo with the dsg as well. we have this in our vw jetta which is a lot of fun for an economy car, it's become my dd.
and brian, i wasn't trying to be critical at all. i for one really enjoy your posts and think that everyone else does too.

The 2.0T is an excellent engine. It's very fuel efficient and as Brian mentioned, it is very mod friendly.
Revo, APR, GIAC, Unitronic (there are lots of software companies out there) typically bump up the engine output from 200hp to 240-250 at the crank. For $500, you can't go wrong.
Audi/VW did come out with an updated version of their engine in mid-08 which is now known as the TFSI instead of the FSI.
