Decision time
Hi all: Have been given the option of a 2010 GT3 or R8 V10. The lease on my current GT3 is not up unitl June of 2010, yet because deposits are required, i would like to make up my mind. Have owned 3 porsches, including a twin turbo and a C2. Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Well then the R8's "praticality" goes out the window.
If the new R8 is simply the current car with more power, I can't say anything bad about it. Everyone I know that has one loves it and declares it to be so good they can't believe Audi made it...

Do it .......
.... rahul do it! you know i love mine ..

I would opt for the V-10 Audi. Granted both will be limited, and if you are not planning to do some serious tracking, then the GT3's trump card loses a bit of its luster. The R8 will be marginally faster, and I perrsonally prefer it's more exotic looks (yet somewhat less in-your-face vs say a Lambo or F-car). Though I saw the GT3 in person and it too is stunning, but too mmany P-cars in my area at least that the exclusiviity will go in Audi's favor a bit more.
Plus you've had your share of P-cars, maybe it is worth trying something diff. If you are debating it too much, just get a shorter lease (1-2 yrs). And with the new PDK transmission, a regular 911 S comes aweful close in performance to the manual GT3, despite it's larger engine for the new model yr.

That is one hell of a decision. I wish I had the same problem...LOL! If the decision is based on driving feel, it's hard to top the GT3's purity. If it's based on attention-grabbing sex appeal, the R8 V10 will drop jaws and panties. Either way, you're going to have a bad-*** car. I wish you the best on your up-coming endeavor.

Having own both the the R8V8 and the 7GT3 I would have to say the R8V10 is a better choice for an all around car. Especially if you haven't own a mid-engine car with magnetic suspension. But I am sure the 3.8L GT3 will be phenomenal. Tough decision.

Thanks. Yet, now we're talking GT2 money. Damn, this is getting hard..............
My $0.02 worth. Do not purchase an R8 V10...unless you want people taking pictures of your car constantly...and I only have a V8 version of the R8. Everyone wants to talk about the car in parking lots. Surprisingly people are very careful parking next to the car. When I go to cars and cafe the Audi's are parked next to Porsche's. The first place people come is to see the R8.
I love Porsche's and have owned them in the past. Nothing I have ever owned gets as much appreciation or attention as the R8 V8. With the V10 it may be overwhelming.
