Why are preowned RS4 so cheap?

I'm not in the market to buy a car, but it's always interesting to see how much the prices dropped on the RS4.

Why are preowned RS4 so cheap? I saw a 2007 model with 14k asking $44k. IMO that's a bargain for the car you're getting.

i wouldn't say they're cheap -- at the end of the day ... a 2007 car is 4 years old now

i think the bigger reason of the price drop is that the newer released cars are a lot cheaper than before (the 2010 s4 is 10k less than the 2009 was)

I was never good at math but isn't a 2007 car only 3 years old? The '07's came out at the end of '06 just like the '10's are now coming out in '09.

I'm not a math whiz either but an 07 model will be a 3 yr. old car by year end.

In any event, Sanjay is correct, price is low due to the year made but with 14k miles (that's not even called being driven) so I think its still a great bargain for such an exclusive vehicle.

This is NOT the RS4 I saw for sale, but how ironic they both have 14k miles on their 2007. The RS4 I saw for sale $44k is stock and black exterior.

I just saw this RS4 for sale on CL. For $53k, (maybe he'll let it go for less) and you get all these mods. Only if I was ready to buy, I'd be all over this RS4.

The RS4 is a beast, buy it asap, that sounds like a great deal, you get aftermarket handling, power, rims, and interior on a stock car.... BUY asap... great exhaust out the gate without any upgrades.

^^^ Agreed. I may be completely wrong, BUT I have a feeling that the RS4 prices may creep up a little bit next year. So, If you can find an RS4 with relatively low miles, jump on it now.

Wishful thinking for both of us...

There was a nice 07 with 30K miles around here for sale at a dealer for 43K. I thought about selling both cars to get it but just couldn't bear the idea of going from 2,000 lbs to nearly 4,000

The general public sees it as an "older gen" car, regardless of the RS-ness of it, kind of like previous gen AMG cars. The market is mostly composed of these people so they are the ones driving the price down...

The carbon buildup is ridiculous, Audi should be embarrassed.

I'll agree with that.
Once I found out all the problems they were facing with that issue and the cost to clean once every xx miles, I took them off my list.
Maybe that helped drive cost down in addition to the econmy.
