Thinking about buying an Audi....

Thinking about a used Audi. I love the S4 and the RS4. Which years come with the twin turbo V-6 and what can I expect to pay for one here in the US?

Which one is the Wagon? The RS4?

The b5 s4 is the 2.7 bi-turbo motor. They were from 2000-2002 I believe. They came in both sedan and avant(wagon) forms. The b5 rs4 never came to the states. The prices have come down alot recently. You can find a nice one for sub 15k. Some even k04'd already. Check out the Audizine classified sectiom, last time i was looking for a b5 there was quite a few of them listed over there.

The B5 s4 has always been one of my favorite cars. Classy, subtle looks, twin turbo v6 and endless possibilities for power. The B6/7 S4 came next (04-08) and has a 340 hp V8. Also a good looking, quick car, but the modifying potential is not nearly as much as the B5. Then the only RS4 to come to the US came in 07-08 I believe and boasts a 420 hp V8.

A clean stock B5 can be had for right around 12-13k, lesser models for less money. If I were in the market I would try to find a stage 3 (400-500hp with KO4 or other upgraded turbo), a clean one can be found in the high teens, low 20k. Do you research and buy the right one that has been well maintained as they are known for being unreliable, but with the right mods they can hang with just about anything. The stage 3 cars have neck breaking acceleration due to all wheel drive and gobs of torque.

As far as the B6/7 you can find good examples from 20k up. If you don't want a really really fast car, and don't plan on modding too much I would try to find a well cared for example for 25-30k.

If you want the cream of the crop you can get a slightly used RS4 for 45k and up. These cars a well sorted from the factory and very fast.

Depending on how much you want to spend you can get a sweet, fast audi in any of these cars. If you want a new car, look at the B8 s4. These have a base price of 45,900 and have a supercharged v6 with 330 advertised HP (independent dynos have proven that this car has much more power). These cars are fast and have potential to be alot faster with a smaller pulley on the supercharger and a tune (430 hp).

I'll see you a real nice, cleanly modified S4 for a good price if you're interested. 2005, 4.2L V8 with all the right mods.

If you're looking to build a monster I'm definitely biased toward the b5 (for obvious reasons). A stage 3 will...hehe, well, search for some vids on Youtube and you'll see.

I test drove an S4 this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised by the interior. It's much nicer than our 5 series BMW.
