Lined up: S5 - RS4 - S4

There have been many debates (ahem, arguments) lately over which car has a tenth here or which car really dynos what. Outright acceleration is hardly the only thing we judge a car on, but I'm curious nontheless:

...has anyone lined these 3 up? Anyone have any video of the trio going head to head?

S4 and RS4 line up in here. That V6 is pretty impressive.

Nice find on the vid...I didn't want this to become a numbers quoting thread.

That c63 sounds straight evil. Are all of these cars stock? I didn't expect the s4 to hold its own against that crowd.

By the looks of it those cars were stock/stockish. The S4 off the line will usually win due to its traction advantage. I like how with the last race (IS-F vs. S4) they kept with the cars and showed that the IS-Fs top end power won out.

Im itching to buy some go-fast parts/mods for my car. I'm realistic and know I won't really gain much in hp/tq but what options do I have for my S5? Would getting springs help make the car feel like a go-cart? Would getting a louder exhaust make me want to put a mute to that Bang & Olufsen?

thanks in adv.

Springs will definitely help with stiffening up the ride. I would also look into getting coilovers. Stasis is a known brand for Audi coilovers which you may want to check out.

Here's one exhaust option as well which is on sale. Notice the dyno graph in the pics at the bottom showing minimal gains throughout the power band.

great thanks..

Do you guys know if Borla or Tubi makes exhaust for the S5? I had the Tubi's on my 997s and it was great.. not too loud but definitely noticeable.

So is there a difference between the exhaust only for 1299 and the catback exhaust for 1499?

The difference is the tips. Before you go installing stiffer springs/coilovers get the statis rear sway bar, and the car will definitely get that go kart feel with good tires on....trustttt me.

As for exhaust
All I know is that my music has been muted more often now, and I seem to find myself flooring the car quite often to listen to the V8.

Chip, airfilter, and exhaust should put you roughly at 30+ crank or so depending on which companies you choose. Light weight wheels won't hurt either considering it's an AWD car with 29lb wheels.

Just lowering springs will not make your car feel like a go-cart. You wan't a go-cart feel, you need to buy a Lotus. I have H&R Coilovers in mine. Didn't need to go too overboard with the Stasis setup. It's real pricey and you won't use the Ohlins dampers anywhere near it's capabilities. I am not a big fan of using just lowering springs. Preferrably, you want to use a damper/spring setup that is matched with each other. With the H&R coils and rear sways, the car definitely handles better. It's much more planted than stock and the sways take out a lot of the understeer that is dialed into the stock setup. KW V1 and V2 coilovers are also a great option. I chose the H&R coils because I didn't want to wait the 2 weeks at the time for KW's.

Not much hp to be gained with mods on this car. However, there are some great exhausts out there. I have the Stasis in mine, but it has some drone in the cabin under load. AWE and Miltek are both great systems worth looking at. And yes, you will use your stereo less and less after you get an exhaust system. The V8 does sound really good.

RS4 is an Avant, but did pull off marginally before the S5.

thanks everyone for your help..
I will definitely look into the exhaust and possible downpipes first.. and then maybe in the spring do something with the coilovers and sway bars.
And I wasnt expecting cart cart feel.. just something alittle tighter with less roll.
sort of the way my stock nsx felt.

Looks like the RS4 put some distance on the S5.
