S8 incredible offer???
!!! but it sure looks much better now
I will take whatever tyres they have, I don't think I have the choice, no one who has bought any of these cars had the tyres replaced, except me!!
And yes, whilst you can get no better than the genuine Audi diagnostic system - it is only as good as the operator who uses it. I can personally vouch for regular and repeated horrors of truely incompetent 'technicians' at both VW and Audi dealers in the UK - who clearly have serious areas of knowledge deficiancy!

Back to the Rubbers and filters. I am not sure what is normally changed on pre-delivery inspection, but I guess they did not change anything (although I am sure they would have replaced any defective looking parts or rubbers) and I have to make sure I go to an early service and ask for those to be changed along with the fuel and air filters. I guess I just have to complain hard enough in order to have those items changed outside their requisite service times
(and I guess these are not normally changed on the first service).
But back to PDI, do you know if its is similar to a first service? (i.e. lubs. and filters change) or is it just testing to check if everything is working?

So going back to my first PM I sent you, and also the fresh info I sent in the second subsequent PM - I would categorically insist that not only a 'main service inspection' (as per the schedule in the service book) be carried out due to the more-than two year delay since manufacture. And I would ALSO insist on the tyres and all four filters be replaced, on the grounds that the car has stood idle for well over two years. I personally would consider these to be a deal breaker - if they don't carry out the service, AND replace said items - then I personally would walk away.
I fully agree with the earlier sentiments in this thread about the A8/S8 being Audis flagship, and therefore a well-built, reliable and bullet-proof car - but cars are NOT designed to be stored for such lengthy periods, and especially so in such harsh environmental conditions. OK, sure, sometimes cars DO get stored for long periods such as these instances - but then when they ARE 'returned to the road', then they MUST be properly 'bought back into regular service' by replacing appropriate parts which WILL have, or are highly likely to have deteriorated.
You're most welcome.
Huh - why not? There is absolutely nothing wrong with pressure washing an engine - providing that the operator uses appropriate caution about holding the lance a sensible distance away, and not directing it at air intakes.
What do you think happens to an engine when it rains and you drive along a motorway at 70mph, or even a German autobhan at 160mph!
I know people have 'brand preferences' - but Pirellis are seriously NOT suited to heavy large saloon cars. Pirellis may be perfectly OK on very light-weight hot hatches, or two-seater sports cars such as a 911/R8/Gallardo which have very limited luggage capacity (therefore the 'loaded weight' remains similar to the 'kerb weight') - but on four/five seater saloons or wagons, which can tollerate increases in weight much more dramatically - then Pirellis are definately very poor tyres. Like I said, I speak from direct experience of just how poor the Pirellis were on the B7 RS4
- and this opinion is also reflected on the more relevent Audi S/RS forums.
On such a heavy car, you need appropriate tyres which are up to the job of coping with the vastly increased weight compared to say an R8!

.....and you thought this long thread was going to end without you knowing what was the outcome??
Yes, I bought the car, and it is fantastic. I am still waiting for the new tyres to come in next week and they will be replaced by the dealer.
I just love everything about this car, except for the owner's manual which is 300 pages!!! I will graduate with PhD from Audi after reading it all.
The car has a lot of gyzmos that one needs to get used to. I am still waiting to break the first 1500 Kms in order to get a feel of its true potential (not that I did not get the RPM to 7,000 a couple of time now!!!)
Here is a picture of the car being washed over the week-end. I will post some more pictures later.
Thank you all for help.

But congrats on the purchase. Sick car!!
You state that you've purchased an '08 S8 but those pictures are of an '07 as identified by the wheels and fog lights. The rear lights changed in '08 too. They are LEDs now. Are you sure you got an '08? The picture below shows what the wheels and fogs look like in '08.

I checked the chassis number, it is a 2008 but produced in 2007. These fog lights nd rear lights continued I believe in the early 2008 and the cars that were produced mid 2008 had the new lights.
