Purchasing a RS4 Friday

They literally got the car in two days ago(had not even started advertising it yet) and I worked out a deal today. Tomorrow they are going to do the 300 point inspection and are giving me the CPO warranty car just barely hit 35k miles, and looks mint inside and out and a single owner car. Im very excited because this will be one awesome DD/winter car! I know a few years ago there was some build up issues with the engines, is there anything else I should be requesting they check tomorrow?

Congrats on the purchase! Be sure to post pictures.

It's my understanding all recalls must be performed first before obtaining the Audi certification for CPO warranty, but it does not hurt to ask. As for the carbon buildup, this is inevitable on this engine even after the clean.

this sounds like it's a singular event in the life of an RS4. Unfortunately it's an annual task if you want to be running fully powered car.

JHM, a tuning company in California with a bunch of great stuff for the RS4 appear to have a carbon solution on their product list. It's still in testing, but things are looking good.

OP - congrats on the pickup. Let's see some pics.

Also I do have a question, I believe in the manual it said 95 octane is recommended for the car, well so far the best ive found it 92. Which is kinda odd because in couer d'alene ive seen more than a few exotic super cars rolling around as dd's in the summer. Will lower octane gas increase how fast the carbon build up will happen? Because I have two options im gonna try out, either try and get gas at a Pacific Pride who I was told has 97 or take a 45 min drive to a gas station in downtown spokane I was told had 104 and stock up. But would 104 be overkill or would I mix it with 92????

Thanks guys

Based on what I've read 92 vs. 95 octane fuel makes no difference. If this was the case then people in California would be reporting more carbon build up issues than other states. Most people add in the cost of getting a carbon clean once every 15-20k miles since a solution has not been created.
