Should I sell my 02 996 C2 for an 07 Audi RS4

Took a test drive and very tempted. Had posted on the Porsche forum and thought I get some feedback from the Audifiles. Advice appreciated.

The RS4 is certainly a very different car. First impression...it was a heavy beast, great hanlding, comfort, fit and fiinsh and the V8 growl. Unfortunately I can't afford to keep both unless I win the lottery this weekend. LOL
I always liked the Audis and wanted a rarer model (can't afford an R8) and for the current market price on the RS4, I figured it would be a good opportunity to get into an 07 compared to my 02 car.

That having said, I just had the clutch flywheel, RMS, IMS, AOS, coolant reservior, water pump, plugs and coils down less than 5km ago.

Kind of sucks to be moving into another vehicle now that the Porsche drives like new. The RS4 is one of the icons for Audi and the 996 seems like a dime a dozen these days. (Although mine looks sharp...LOL)

I have till Monday to decide...not sure what to do

My 07 Phantom Black RS4 is getting ready to go on the market. I love the car but I have had it for 2 years and have an itch for something else. I just bought a 911sc track car to get my ya-yas out, but will looking for another fast commuter when I sell the Audi.

The RS has a Millitek non-res non-valved exhaust that sounds great.

No, wasn't a shameless plug, sold the RS six months ago...

RS is just a more well rounded vehicle. The engine sings, golf clubs in the trunk, great in snow, four doors, fit and finish is impecable, body is beautiful, etc...

The C2 is a great car but never wowed me like the RS did.

Hope this helps. Good luck!

I heard audi finally came up with a recall on the DRC suspension always leaking - but i would look into this, also look up the carbon buildup problem on the intake valves.

I've never known an Audi to hold its value, including the RS4 which has dropped like a stone

The RS4 is a great car but it has its faults. Before purchasing you should know that the FSI motor found within the RS4 requires carbon cleaning due to build up issues. Also the DRC suspension is a weak point which was addressed by an Audi recall. Aside from these two issues it's a great car. Good luck with your hunt for the perfect RS4. I hope to pick one up myself at some point.

FYI...the carbon build and burning oil issue is not exclusive to the RS4. Most FSI Audis have the same problems. Yes the R8 too. That is what I was told by the Audi Mechanics at the dealership.

It will hold its value as a used purchase, cheapest rs4 on ebay was 33K. I doubt it would ever go under 25K. A 996 on the other hand will continue to drop in value due to newer models coming out.

Also those "Issues" stated above are not nearly as expensive as some of my BMW problems my friends have experienced...335s are nuts...on the other hand I have another friend with an S4, chipped, tuned, exhaust, the works...with 90Kmiles on it now and its never been in the shop besides breaks, oil, etc
