TT RS rear wing now available on TT S Line= WTF
TT RS rear wing now available on TT S Line= WTF
Apparently the rear wing configuration on the TT RS is being offered on the new TT S line competition pack. Audi posted it on their Facebook feed.
What a slap in the face to every TT RS owner. Can Audi keep nothing special? now the lowest spec Audi will look like your supposedly rare car.
Mine is being traded if this is the case and I will just buy a Porche.
Anyone else have knowledge of this? Am I crazy?

Spoilers aren't exactly what i'd necessarily call "unique" because many of them can be directly bolted on to any car regardless of what the factory offers. Keep in mind you can get almost any body part and spoiler on any Porsche...A Cayenne Diesel can be fully optioned with ALL GTS body panels, skirts, wheels, brakes, seats etc.
However, unique body panels off of a really rare car (let's say 1M fender flares on a 135i"s") or what not would really **** me off if owned a 1M. Or lets say 911 Sport Classic rear duck spoiler on a base Carrera equally as much.
HOWEVER, I completely support your cause as long as you clearly voice yourself to Audi and people at Audi that matter. They DO ***** out their sports packages and what not, it's just a fact and if I had the means i'd probably want to as well.
I've got a 2011 A3 Tdi S-line (wait when we ordered it... they all come with the S-line package??) yes + we optioned the Titanium Plus sports package. How many sports on sports packages are they going to offer? Jeez

It's no way to treat your enthusiasts.
Have them petition to bring the car here, and once they are all delivered, dress the bottom end car up so it looks the same.
That's me done with Audi.

Just voice it properly please with Audi. You carry big weight if you get what i'm saying.
Audi cuts lots of corners, it's just what they do in certain instances. I've had Audi's in the family since 83' and some of their cost saving measures are incredibly foolish. Not many successful brands can have "disaster" models like Audi can.
Don't forget that the TT is coming to the end of it's model run, and it's common for all makes to enhance all lines to boost sales. Again, I don't think a bolted on spoiler is very unique.
Also your wheels are the same across the bored - bigger versions of the my A3 Tdi's, and smaller versions of an RS5's. Keep in mind Audi became famous making understated cars. Wagons with power, wolves in sheeps clothing. Traditionally their owners are very unconcerned about what's on the outside because what they offer as a package - versatility, all weather, blistering speed/brakes, cargo room etc etc

For many cars it is not. But the TT has a history of being a smooth car, and the top of the line models get the different spoiler.
When the TT RS got the wing it was THE statement the car was making. It was done purposely to remove the chick car image. They wanted it to be taken seriously.
When an entry level car looks the same as the RS car, Audi is not thinking about the consumer. They definitely are not thinking about the future of the RS brand.

Yup it sucks but what Audi is doing isn't unique, Porsche does it also with the Aerokit on the 997, Looks like a GT3 and turbos with GT2 body kits. So what I do is just make my own ride unique and don't worry about it

BMW has been killing the M badge for years.
The RS cars should not look like the others. They should stand apart. They should mean something.
The range topping RS Porsche cars have kit that you can't get elsewhere. My V12 Vantage has a hood that you can't get on any other car.
That's how you manage a brand.

To clarify its the not the TTRS wing thats going to come on the Sline car its the 3 pillar wing from the Audi acessories catalog. Your TTRS is a fantastic car and somebody else having a wing takes nothing away from it unless all you care about is everyone knowing exactly what a TTRS is due to the wing. Most people wont know the differance anyways. You would really trade the car in over this? I mean how often do you even see another TT let alone a TTS or TTRS? Anyone can walk into Audi and order the RS wing for $900 (I did it). The statement made with the RS is 350bhp and near supercar performance. You would just LOVE my car TTS with RS grill and RS wing in carbon.

Do you own the car to own a great, fun car or do you own the car so other people will see you and say 'OOOOOO...LOOK THAT GUY MUST BE SUCCESFUL BECAUSE HIS CAR HAS THE BIG SPOILER!'. First off, the only people who have a fking clue what that big spoiler means are Audi nerds like us...and they will know instantly if the car is a TTRS or a TT s-line with a spoiler added on. The rest of the people haven't a clue, and think your TT-RS, giant wing or not, is indeed the same car as the beige 2.0T TT that their hairdresser drives.
I think you should definitely sell the car and buy that Porche you have mentioned a few times. Just don't be embarrassed when a guy pulls up beside you in a Porsche and turns his nose up at your replica Porche.

@sakimano I guess you didn't really read my posts, especially the one right above yours. Its not about having people think "THAT GUY MUST BE SUCCESSFUL BECAUSE HIS CAR HAS THE BIG SPOILER!". (Why would you bring this up?)
Its not about posing, its about Audi poorly managing the RS badge. No one knows what that badge means outside of 'car folk', and I'm cool with that. The badge is for the enthusiast crowd. I liked when the RS4/6 had flared wheel wells. I liked when they were more different from the standard cars. I don't think they should be putting the wheels from the RS cars on the other cars. (if some punter wants to pretend, that’s different than when the factory does it)
The TTRS should have been more differentiated from the base cars (aesthetically and performance wise). As it is, only a few add on bits visually separate it. When you sell those bits (or near identical) you do dilute the presence of the RS badge.
For the record I bought the TT RS because I wanted a car that was special, low numbers, visually different and something another enthusiast would smile when they see it at the track. There are so few of these cars, the right people are always interested. To the average folk, ALL audi's baring the R8 are just cars (I've owned six of them). I didn't buy it because I couldn't afford a Porsche/R8.
Still not sure why I would be driving a replica Porsche.
