Goodbye TTRS. Hello R8 V10
Goodbye TTRS. Hello R8 V10
I have decided to sell my TTRS and replace it with an R8 V10.
First question is WHY?
To be honest I have never really had any issue with the TTRS as a car, and I was VERY happy with it once I fixed the crappy front rotors etc. But I have had four TT's in my life and two of them have been TT RS models. Part of it was just a need for a change.
If you have a TTRS you already know how fantastic a car it is. If you are thinking about one, try to drive one, it is really very good. The car has a monster amount of torque and it's the right size.
Part of it was a need to step it up a little because my other daily is an Aston Martin V12 Vantage. As good as the performance numbers for the TTRS are, the experience is not really on par with the Vantage V12. Instead of enjoying the cars potential, I was reminded of its "short comings". To be honest, this was felt mostly while tooling around town. I found it was never a toss up between what car I would drive. Even the Range Rover Sport won over the TTRS. This could be because I have had four of them.
The PROS:
Awesome engine, just amazing sound and torque everywhere.
I love the size.
You CAN use it everyday, even in snow.
I used it to go mountain biking etc.
Fast as hell on the road and on the track.
The CONS:
Bad brakes from the factory. I had to change them.
You can still tell its FWD bias at times.
Burns through tires and pads if you track.
Invisible, except to real car guys (this can also be a positive).
Audi's TD1 policy.
So I now will have an R8 V10 for my daily driver. I'm excited, its always been a car that I have admired and wanted.
I opted for a used model because I don't drive that much and I saved on the depreciation.
The car is a 6 speed
Datona Grey Pearl Effect
Extended leather
Silver blade
back up camera etc.
Its a really nice car. Looking forward to driving it.

Daytona gray i think is what you meant
Dolphin gray was an old color, but I know you can get any Audi color.
I really like the grey with Silver side blade
GMG exhaust sounds really good on it, just saying
Oh and Audi is currently working on the fix for TT RS front brake noise

Thanks. I knew it sounded wrong when I was writing it up.
The issue with TTRS brakes it not the noise. It's the rotor quality. Just crap. One side lacks cooling etc. Audi does not get brakes. Bad cooling etc.
The Loba units are great

The grill does not bother me as much as the super cheesy egg crate grills at the front and back. They are poorly finished and no more special than something you would find on a Mazda 3. Does anyone make aftermarket units that are actually metal??
Something like you would find on an Aston Martin, Ferrari or even a Ford GT???
