Just Test Drove An S6...

Test drove a black on black S6 . Impressions are:

1. too heavy
2. good power but expected better acceleration from 435 hp
3. too heavy
4. exhaust sounded good.
5. TOO HEAVY
6. fabulous interior
7. WAY TOO HEAVY..
8. car cornered real good, brakes felt great.

Salesperson asked what other cars I have been looking at. Told him 997S with tiptronic. HE said (and I quote) "with 435hp there is no contest."
Let's see now.... S6 @4,300lbs/435hp= 9.89
997S@3,150lbs/355hp= 8.87
Seems like a contest to me. My vote goes to 997S.

P.S. It was amazing the arrogance at this dealership. Manager said if I didn't leave a deposit people will be bidding on this car for over sticker.
Don't get me wrong, car was great for a 4-door (sticker was 80K) but a bidding war...car wasn't that great. Anyway just MY opinion

Looks nice, but I'd either spring for an S8 or go for an M5..

you know what i think BMW is one of the best car companies out there, but i dont like how audi is hated on alot of the times........so an M5 beater would be good for Audi

the weight is a shame. Audi needs serious diet plan.

kinda hard to compare a full size sedan to a 997, but I see where you're coming from.

Have you tried th RS4?

Haven't tried the RS4. ThoughtI would have trouble with head room.
The 997S surprisingly has more head room then you would think for a 2-door coupe.

Believe me, he dont know jack about the next gen. RS6, they are the last people to know (sales guys).
Judging from your story he was a idiot, Bidding on a S6 what a hack.
If you get any Audi now the only choice would be a RS4, S8 maybe if you need room.
In my book the S6 has no point being made.

Like I said, the S8 is the money shot here. If that's too much $$, then get an M5.

unless you're really really tall, you'd probably be comfortable in an RS4. I'm 6'3", nearly all torso and I was totally confortable in it. That being said, I'm sure the 997s is quite roomy since the rear seats are utterly useless (although with the seat back in the RS4, the rear seats wouldn't be much more useful)

I went to Audi today to check out some of the cars. I didnt drive the s6, but I wasnt thrilled with it from what I saw. The car is gorgeous, but it doesnt look much different from a normal A6. The rims on all of the ones I saw were way too small, the 4 pipes are tiny... it just didnt look like anything special for 82k. The RS4 is a much better car in my opinion.
