Well Im selling my 2007 Bentley GT with mulliner package. Its in pristine condition- no paintwork ever, and clean carfax. I currently have it consigned at DC motors in Anaheim Hills, CA. If you click on the attached link you can see a million detailed pics of it. A lot of members on 6speed have known me for a while now and can vouch for the condition of my cars. Without further delay here are the specs

-mulliner wheels
-diamond stitched mulliner leather seats
-massage seats
-aluminum veneer plates on dash
-black piano console
-adjustable lowering module (can go from stock to about a 2 inch drop with a turn of the dial)
-NAVI
-satellite radio
-passport radar/laser jammer/detector hard wired
-bentley factory optioned carpeted floor mats
-brand new less than 1k miles on front and back FACTORY ROTORS AND PADS ($$$$)
-brand new tires at time of brake change (also less than 1k miles)

OK guys MAJOR PRICE DROP- First person to offer over 100k to me takes it.... this is a steal, the car is being consigned at CNC motors for around 110k, if I get a buyer from 6speed I will go pickup the car take it off consignment and sell it for 10k less direct. I have a Audi r8 in sight that I really REALLY want to pull the trigger on, so this is gonna go one way or another...I rather not trade it in to the stealership....they are offering me high 90's so please do not come at me with something ridiculous like 90k. Thanks

A high 90's trade in and the tax reduction may put you over the 100k mark for the car.

As far as I am aware there are no tax incentives in California.

unfortunately in the great state of california there is no tax benefit on trading in a car at a dealer...don't get me started....

Wait, so if you trade in a Bentley for $90k on an R8 that is $100k. You pay tax on the whole $100k? That doesnt seem right. You are being "double taxed. You should only have to pay tax on the $10k difference.

So if the tax on $100k is say 6.25% (thats what it is in Mass, dont remember cali) is $6250. Or on $10k its $625.

So if they are giving you say $95k for your car, its like getting $101250 for your car because of the sales tax benefit you would have to pay on the $100k car.

I of course dont know what you're paying for an r8. But if it is not a v10 i can't see paying more than $110k for a v8.

I would look into this, it doesnt seem right to me.

it may not be right, but it is the law in california. i grew up on the east coast and always looked at trading in the way you did above...when i moved to california i was shocked to hear that if you buy a $60k car and trade in a $30k car (my means are more modest) you are still paying tax on the full purchase price rather than the net purchase price..yes that is double taxation...heck it can be triple or quadruple taxation depending on how often a car turns over...but that's the way it works out here. at least the money is going to a good cause (state govt) and that it helps our sound fiscal situation....
