'98 H1 with Cummins Conversion

I purchased a low mileage, stock, 1998 H1 several years ago and immediately had a Cummins conversion done. In addition, I had the interior gutted and upgraded. The exterior was also redone. All rust was removed and it was painted white from its original red.

Not only did I upgrade this H1 with a 24v Cummins but I also increased the size of the turbo, injectors, etc. It makes approx 500 HP and the torque is incredible. I tow 6,000 LBS up the mountains with ease. It has power to spare and runs cool. The brakes were upgraded with the Predator system used on armored Humvees. This system is far superior to the stock system.

The interior is done in black leather and suede. All exposed plastic parts are covered in leather. It has a new entertainment system, back up camera, and FLIR system. There's a custom monitor over the driver side windshield for the FLIR system. The Cummins is a noisy engine so a significant amount of money was invested in sound deadening. By no means is it quiet but the sound deadening makes a difference. The interior is very well done, looks great, and is functional.

This is about as nice as they get. It took Predator Motorsports approx one year to finsish this conversion and no expense was spared. It's well thought out and well put together. The chassis has just under 54,000 miles on it. The Cummins engine slightly less. It's in excellent condition and done right.

The follow links show the best pictures of the interior and exterior along with an explanation of what was done. These were put together by Predator Motorsports in an effort to keep me updated on their progress:

hey sorry but i just joined this place and i cant send you a msg...says i have to do 15 posts. i think you can PM me but idk. i am shopping for a hummer atm and if and when i get one i am interested in putting a cummins conversion from predator into it and was wondering what yours cost to put the cummins in with all your upgrades to the engine tranny and the whole drivetrain. also what it cost to repaint it and what is cost to have your interior wraped in suede and leather because that is very close to how i want my hummer to be done. thanks for your time and i hope you reply.

Im pretty sure the conversions d-max and allison start around 30k for a base upgrade and then you can add a lot more for a lot more money. There are other options out there besides predator. Let me know if you are interested and I can provide some more info. There is a great H1 community out there that are willing to answer questions and lend a hand.

I didnt ask about a d-max though. If you have a choice between d-max and cummins that should be an obvious choice. And it says on there website the basic conversion starts at about 19k for the 12v 5.9L and his guy has the 24v 5.9L with alot of upgrades so i have no idea where that puts a person price wise.

I only mentioned a D-Max since they are more common and need less fab than cummins. I recommend checking out The Hummer Network Forum. You can get a lot of answers on there. Also, a friend of mine who has been building hummers for 10+ years might be able to take care of all your need much less than Predator. If you want I can give you his name, number, and email. His work is amazing and he leave no bolt unturned.

I put about $70k into it. I wouldn't recommend Predator. I had nothing but problems with their conversion and was lucky to have a good local shop to help sort things out. It took me a year and a lot of money (after dropping $70k with Predator) to get it running right. Predator's work is sloppy and their follow up sucks.

Honestly, save up for an Alpha or don't get an H1. These conversions can be a PITA.

I have heard nothing good about Predator. Im sorry you had so many issues. These truck are really a lot of fun but also a lot of work.

I tell everyone that wants one, if you can't turn your own wrenches they you will broke. These trucks are a constant maintenance.

Anyway, Brad_king ... let me know if you want my guys number. He has his own shop in CO and builds these trucks all the time. He has 2 fully built non conversions for sale right now.
