996 TT front bumper lip replacement

Just curious about the black protector lip on the bottom of the front bumper of my 996 TT. Since its pretty beat up, I wanted to know how much they are to replace? where can I get a new replacement part? is it a part that is easy enough to replace without going to a dealer? Any insights would be appreciated.

thx 6speeders!

I think the lip just bolts on and you can get a new one from dealer. They are under $100 I believe. Call Sunset as well as Carlsen and Stevens Creek to compare prices.

I do believe they were more than that when I last checked?? Like close to $400 if I remember corectly. I replaced mine with the one from a C4S and had it painted body color to match.

Looks way better IMHO and has better drivway clearence due to the raised center section. A lot cleaner and cheaper.

Be advised that exchanging the chin spoiler on a Turbo for a C4S chin spoiler will upset the aerodynamic balance and could result in instability at high speed.

The additional rear downforce provided by a wing such as the Turbo or other types (GT2, Aerokit) requires the additional downforce on the front as provided by the Turbo chin spoiler. While the C4S spoiler might look cool, it is not recomended due to instability.

Have had it up to 165mph and had no issues yet?? Don't know about any higher.

Alex,

I actually pulled the trigger on that kit I told you about a while back. Actually sometime shortly after you Akkurat closed doors. The kit is up at EVO and have spoken to Todd about doing the kit for me. I have to take a road trip out there and will have it installed when I do that. If anything changes as far as that plan I will let you know????

thanks

Andreas

Try 275$ from the dealer for a TT lip, list at 350$, a C4S can be had for 200$. Takes 5 min to install, may have one to sell real soon.(TT).

LOL, someone is feeding you a heaping load of BS. Changing the Turbo lip to a C4S lip won't do anything but look different. The Aerokits will make a resistance change, but not the OEM lips.
