1992 Porsche 964 RS Midnight Blue

Mileage: 38800
Color: midnight blue
Private or Dealer Listing: Private Listing
Location (State): NY

Stunning 964 RS in midnight Blue
Only 62,503 km = 38,837
Porsche Classic Technical Certificate

When a journalist asked the legendary Walter Röhrl if he can keep only 1 car from his collection, his answer was "the 964 RS probably.."

I'm biased because my favorite Porsche is 964, but among 964, I think the 964 RS is really the best of the breed.

The modification compared to a 964 C2 were quite impressive:
* revised version of the standard engine with an increased power output of 260 horsepower
* lightweight flywheel
* unique G50/10 transmission with closer ratios
* asymmetrical Limited Slip Differential and steel synchromesh
* Track-oriented suspension system with 40 mm lower ride height, stiffer springs, shocks, and adjustable stabilizer bars without power steering.

* stripped-out interior devoid of power windows or seats, rear seats, air conditioning, cruise control, sound deadening, or a stereo system
* Recaro racing-bucket front seats
* The trunk hood in aluminum and no hood struts
* Chassis was seam welded.
* Wheels are made of magnesium
* Glass is thinner in the doors and rear window
* unique RS rear bumper (11 pounds lighter design)
* No door beams
* Rolled finder lips
* fake fog lights
* no undersealing
* master electrical switch in the trunk
* simplify wiring harness
* no heated rear window
* no airbags
* front truck carpet shortened
* Fuel tank capacity 92 liters
* 1-liter windshield

The Carrera RS is approximately 155 kg lighter than the Carrera 2 model.

I bought this RS in France and imported it to the US this summer.
All customs taxes are paid. I'll provide (for free) all the documentation you need to register the car in the US.
DMV requirements are not the same depending on the state
For example, in NY, you'll have to provide a VIN picture and an official translation of the title (that I already have), and customs documentation.Real 3 owners' car:

The first owner was Italian, Mister Tessidore Torricelli from San Remo. He bought the car from the Porsche dealership in Genova.
The second owner was Mister Sapia Flavio Costanzo from San Remo. He bought the car in 1997
The third owner was Mister Stephane Poulat from France. He bought the car around 2004
The car was maintained at Porsche dealership since (at least) 2004
The service bootleg has 10 stamps.
I have more than 20 service invoices from the third owner.
The last major service was done last year.
I have all the state inspections from 2005 to today All the 6 lateral windows have stamping matches: 43R 001057. QS2
QS2 is correct for European car (US cars has AS2). It's important to check because the lateral glasses are thinner on a RS compared to regular 964

Matching number car, engine, and transmission. The expert also confirmed it.
Still have the original stickers on the car.

I had the car inspected by an expert in France before buying it.

The expert said that the car was in great shape, and all weldings are original. Original magnesium wheels and aluminum boot.
According to the expert, the motor and transmission are in great shape. No weird noise
Brakes and suspensions are also in great shape.
Frame: Perfect, no damage
All welding points on the frame are original, and no damage is noted.
No rust is noted even if the anti-rust protection is not present on RS.

The expert noted that this car was not modified except for the front fog lights cover changed by a duct to cool front brakes.

The car was partially resprayed. Look at the paint meter pictures to have a better idea.
There are paint chips on the front bumper and front hood.

There were two minor incidents disclosed by the seller (I appreciated his transparency) and checked by an expert I hired before buying the car:
  1. There was a bumper to bumper hit in a parking lot.
    I have an expert in France that check the car, and he took a picture of the left corner, under the bumper.
  2. In 2018, a body shop straightened a dent on the front floorboard, near the battery. The car met a bump stop of a garage portal :-)
I have a small dealership, so trade-in is possible.
Inspection is more than welcome and recommended (I have a lift)

Nice RS! Definitely would recommend getting a professional buff to get rid of the spider web/swirls on the paint. Would make the exterior look mint!

unbelievable. awesome!

if possible, can you create another thread, or even have a phone call/ provide some details on the process of importing. we have a family vehicle ( fiat army jeep) that i want to import from Italy to the US- more for nostalgic reasons than value, but could use some advice on how you got it here.

good luck with the sale, if i could swing it, i would be buying this- did you get a chance to use it at all in france?
