The first Vantage I drove a few years ago was an ASM first generation roadster. I didn't mind the roadster aspect but I did mind the paddle shifters. Maybe I'm just more inclined to a traditional gear lever from my MG days, but I could not get used to it. The next pair that I have drove were six speed manual gearboxes and both had the double clutch done on them. I was able to play with one before the clutch was replaced and immediately afterward, very educations. Hugely improved clutch in my opinion. I would say that the single plate is almost similar in feel to the Jaguar E type weight, which is not insignificant and just feels older for obvious reasons, and the twin plate as almost Porsche-like in comparison for lightness. I definitely prefer the utility and larger cabin feel of the coupe, yes I realize "utility" and "sports car" are not normally used together...
Bought it two years ago from a dealer where it had been traded by the original owner at 26k miles; have about 30k on it now. Wasn't necessarily looking for a roadster but ended up being thrilled with the experience, and love the design where the painted metal "swoops" down into the cockpit, between the two leather humps. Not the best explanation but a picture will show you what I mean. Being perfectly honest, the spec is a little strange. It's titanium silver with the sport pack wheels over a tan and beige two tone interior with a red ragtop. Not what I would've built but the red top doesn't look too bad as it matches the calipers and taillights. Was looking for a green or grey car with tan interior but wasn't much on the market when I was looking. Car is in great shape, however. First owner took great care of it. All of the leather is tight and no warping on the dash. He also installed a pretty good aftermarket camera and integrated radar detector. Not sure I have any great photos at the moment but can email you some if you'd like to see.
