I just dont get the way many on board seem to want to sell something but keep prices a secret that you have to waste time pm'ing about.
Can anyone enlighten me as to what advantage this kind of selling might have?

If you have something to sell, figure out what you want for it and let people know-my 02 cents worth.

They're fishing for the best price. Or some members don't know the current market prices for their goods. Just like the old days, auction with sealed envelopes.

I'm +repping everyone on this thread. FS posts without a price are one of my pet peeves - very annoying.

I think they do it so they can't get flamed for putting a ridiculous price on whatever it is. I think prices should be compulsory.

I agree in general here but there is always someone who immediately posts something stupid like " are you crazy thats 10k over market value!!!". Maybe if that didnt happen all the time people would start listing prices more often.

it's so that the seller can differentiate if your a bro you get the bro deal. if your a kook you get the kook price.

Forums used to be a positive way to offer things for sale. However, because of the number of "experts" searching the ads, you either get flamed or low-balled for selling your goods. I'll stick to eBay.

Yes ebay usaully determines the price point better than car forums. I must say I hate super low ballers. I also think it's crazy to want $3500 for a exhaust they paid $4k and used it for like 2yrs 20k miles. Some people just have no idea on either side.

Thats good!

I do understand the lowball, armchair expert criticism thing. All the forums could use a bit more restraint in critical comments. I think its fine to offer an opinion, esp. when you are able to back it up with real life prices/situations, but some of the comments get way too critical or ridiculous and should be kept to the poster. Like Mom always said, "if you can't say anything nice........"
Bless her heart!

Glad to see that I am not the only one who would like to see real life prices and less shuckster in our ads.

I think the only time it's appropriate not to post the price on a for sale thread is if there's a current auction on ebay or somewhere, the car is consigned to another seller, or there is a potential deal somehwere in the making...

Otherwise, what the hell, just let us know what you want to get...

I also get annoyed when people put $XXXXXX OBO, and then when you contact them, they say their price is firm! OBO=OR BEST OFFER, Right?

Oh, and now I'm afraid to buy anything from OAK... Am I a kook or a bro? What if I'm not a bro?!?! The Horror! LOL!
