HotRod... I see Raleigh NC as one of your locations. If you want to make a nice drive over the the Charlotte area I have a Durametric Pro, lift, etc. that I'd be happy to share.

Thanks for this info!

Mark, to be more clear.

I see a consistent .7 or .8 bar. But I'll see quick spikes to .9 - 1.0.
My abs/psm message only happens at WOT in a higher gear and always at max boost, would bad wastegates make sense? Since the MAF in the car is brand new, i'm thinking it's something in front or behind it.

Need to dig through the boost leak test thread (edit: went to order a kit from you, but website won't let me order - i'm Scott that sent you an email)

MXracer, thanks for the offer, car and I are currently out in San Fran

So got out this morning to try to pinpoint things. So 1-2nd gear things are fine. Higher gear it definitely falls on its face. It'll hold .7 and then when it feels like it falls flat it hits a boost spike to .9-1.0. Definitely thinking its losing pressure somewhere.

I need to look at records but I believe the waste gates were replaced not to long ago. I'm thinking the hoses weren't all put on tight. Gonna eye check everything today.

as noted above, the two screw adjusters on the wg "rods'" need to be in "sync" with each other L & R. i causes all manner of boost issues if they not synched.

I had the abs /psm thing going on for a bit and the falling on the face too. My problem turned out to be a short. An intermittent short between the brake light and the running light. There are two small thin bent peace of brass used for the electrical connection of the breke light / running light bulb. Well one of the bent tabs broke off and occasionally connected the brake and running circut together. Some times if it was shorting when you started the car and then pressed the brake the abs/psm would come on. It took a bit to track that down.

Interesting that you had the falling on its face piece and it turned out to be the brake switch.

Did you notice any brake lights out when you pressed on them?

Might as well give it a shot for $20

I don't ever get the problem while braking. Only while WOT in 3rd or 4th

Some cars won't allow WOT with a foot on the brake. E-throttle cars can chop the throttle when they see that. Not sure our cars do that stock having never tried(or driven a stock tune 996) but that could explain it!

Most tuners disable the factory "throttle body shutdown" for brake boosting...

It didn't happen .. Falling on face ... When I hit the brake . It did it under a lot of throttle. I think the little broken part was making contact when it happened. And shorting running light with brake light. Note I all ways have my running lights on.

Correct, on a tuned car. HotRod just bought his car and it may not have a tune.

Back feeding voltage into the brake light circuit might look like the brakes had been applied to the ECU, I'd expect it happen at more than WOT tho. Is a theory, not sure these cars have that nanny.

Upside down, yes, but the hoses appear to be connected properly.

So, the motor was out not too long ago to work on the variator oil rings. I have a good feeling they didn't plumb everything correctly going back in. May begin to regret this purchase.

I've got a Durametric on the way as well as markski's boost leak kit.

I went out and did some driving today, just wanted to get some more facts around what I see going on. Here is what i'm seeing. And i'm hoping it's something as simple as the N75 or the hoses going to it.

When the car is running normal it sees .7-.8 boost and holds.

On occasion i'll see it go up to .9-1.0 and it usually feels like boost isn't really there (feels down on power), and almost feels like it has a hesitation around 5-6K when this happens.

I also did notice while getting on it a bit in a few instances that it'll hold .8, but when I let off the throttle at high RPM's it shoots up to 1.0.

Car feels fine most of the time, but still at times feels like it falls flat on it's face (1st and 2nd almost always feel normal, the flat feeling is in 3rd or 4th at WOT).
