Practice, practice, practice

Day 5 with the new clutch. I did use shoes that allow for more feeling and I'm getting better at operating the clutch. I also did three or four 2 nd gear slipping starts, but not in a row and with some time between them. I need to find a road with no traffic. Probably at night.

At what rpm do you do the bed in procedure? I was starting at 3500-4000.

2nd gear... hold rpm at 3500-4000 (where u make a ton of torque) and ride it for 30-40 feet. pull over. pump your chest. tell yourself everything is ok. repeat 3 or 4 more times. then pull over. turn the car off and HOLD the clutch pedal down. keep your foot on the pedal for about 2-3 minutes. turn car on, and enjoy smooth engagement like a 2.5 sachs.
i-kid-you-not.

The term "testimonial" most commonly applies to the sales-pitches attributed to ordinary citizens!
That's the reason why there are quote-symbols before each opinion....

@RS38: You can call me what you want when we meet in person next time.

To all others: of course I am no idiot who reads the advertisement and buys a clutch based on that. The clutch got some pretty good reviews here and I talked to guys who have this clutch. Everything seemed to be good. In addition to that, the website advertises the main features I was looking for.

I did the bed in procedure and it got a little bit better. I also learned how to drive the clutch. The very high engagement point is a problem, but I could get used to it. Bedding in was not that successful. The clutch is not smooth.

Of the 1/2 inch of modulation way 1/4 inch is very problematic because of the remaining judder. After that point it grabs quite aggressive.

This combination makes it quite challenging to drive that car in stop&go. I stalled it only once in the last 3 days, but I don't like the clutch. It is not what I like.

I don't call this clutch a bad product. It probably is the best for 1/4 and mile races. It is just that I am no friend of this type of clutch behaviour.

If someone wants it, I make a very good price and add a bonus: I got all of the internals twice. The clutch has 800 miles on it and 0 miles on the 2nd clutch pack. I will be available by the end of next week.

looking forward to!

next hint: this forum is a huge platform for sponsors that pay for it and therefor nearly anything has a noticeable commercial blend. So what do you expect?
During the last 6 years, the only upgrade I can remember being obviously neutral to specific sponsors was the great 997.2 Intercooler thread that was of course very annoying for certain tuners...

and FYI:
there was a lot of tuner bashing here before you registered to 6speedonline, especially Euro vs. US, which is quite silly btw.

And the most contrary opinions and bashing always came up when mentioning (or even recommending) the tuner who build your car: 9ff !

well i have never seen so much complaining in one thread lol. sounds like you should pull it out and send it back to ERP to get an updated design if you did the 2nd start bed ins correctly. The new ones are said to be smooth and the original ones were smooth. there were some last year that were not so smooth or it might be the install.

It is already on it's way out. I described what it is like. No complaining or buying regrets in general. I just don't like it.

A very good friend of mine bought and had this same clutch installed along with a GT2 mod just about 2 months ago. His experience pretty much mirrors yours from what I gather talking to him. He likes it at the race track but I think he's of the opinion the clutch pretty much takes the fun out of driving the car on the street.

No qualification of your opinions necessary! It's a personal opinion and you are fully entitled to that as much as anyone else to theirs.

I for one greatly appreciate you sharing your honest journey with this clutch. I've been in the car modding scene a long time. What works for someone else, may not work for everyone. In general, it's rare to have a complete win/win with these types of mods.

You mean normal driving? 1500 seems to be a required minimum and it requires concentration. Anything above 2500 and gets more and more easy (but in normal traffic you look more and more like an idiot who can't drive a car).

I did the bed in between 3500-4000.
