The USB in the bottom pic plugs int the female USB on the black module in the pic right above it (under the blue aux connector. It is upside down in the pic.

 

Does it plug in the CDR23 unit?

The cdr23 that I have has the optic fiber and it is impossible to replace without tearing off the wires completely. Just pluging the iPhone into it sounds like a lot of work.

I will pass. I think I'll just go to a car place and have them tear down the old system and put on a new unit.
