I understand some fabrication is involved to fit the fan unit and to clear space for the hydraulics as it will be hitting the OEM air box. I've not done it myself so I don't have the exact details. The link below will give you a pretty good idea on what's involved.

on a 997.1 you need to change the oem airbox, and go with evo CAI or fabspeed so the lid can close due to hydraulics blocking the way. And no need to get a different fan, just need to fabricate a little spacer to fit original fan.
Just connect the fan connector to fan, spoiler light connector to spoiler light and wing connector into car, that's it! The third brake light on the car won't be functional after this mod, as it is replaced by the spoiler light.

TT Decklid Mod
I did this mod on my wife's pink pearl C2S. Bought a new OEM fan for a TT decklid, used the EVOMS intake, and a new TT wiring harness, which plugged right into the engine bay connector. You'll want to have the special spanner wrench upper wing removal tool available cheap from ZDMAK to prevent scratching of the hydraulic pistons during installation (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Spoiler-Span...f5d204&vxp=mtr).
I first had a K&N intake, which actually fit, properly, but didn't like the plastic tubes in that, so I returned it and bought the EVOMS intake, which has metal tubes and is of much higher quality.
I have a Fabspeed CF intake on my RUF R-Kompressor car and took that off to test fit it onto my wife's to see if that was an option before buying either of the above. With the central placement of the Turbo fan on the decklid, there was contact with the Fabspeed intake pipe, which is what made me go in a different direction. It's possible that modifying the fan bracket could make that one work, but didn't see the need to do that with other choices on the market.
I liked the active aero on my wife's so much, that I actually fabricated a way to make the fixed RUF bi-plane spoiler wing on my car work the same way with 996 TT hydraulics (that was a much more involved project as the RUF Carbon Rear decklid does not have prefabbed mounting locations for the hydraulic pump).
Having done the TT decklid mod myself, let me know if I can answer any questions for you. Current price here is a steal on a complete TT decklid - the Porsche salvage yards (like LA Dismantler) want thousands for these things. Good luck.
