I am getting an 06 GT Mulliner in a couple of weeks. It has 21000 miles and is just gorgeous. Is there anything I should worry about reliance wise? I could get it CPOed for $3500 but is it worth it?

 

Being an 06, the age alone means it may be best to have the major service (the 40k/4year) done to the car. That is ~$2400 from my local Bentley dealer. Is the car at a dealer, and if so perhaps skip the CPO and go for the major service instead. How long a warranty does the CPO come with?

 

I'm buying it from bentley dealership and the CPO would be for 1 year.

 

The general consensus is that these cars are very reliable. Being an 06, make sure the fuel filter recall has been done, the coil-on-spark plugs have been changed and the top (third) brake light has been checked as when they get rained on a batch of them would 'short out' and not work until dry. Other than those 'normal' recalls per se, everything else seems to be great. Of course the choice is yours to get the CPO and/or major service done. FYI, my local dealer included a free 3 month warranty when the car was acquired.

Another question since you seem to be knowledgeable in the CGT domain. I'm paying $92,500 for the car is it a fair price? It was listed at $99,000 and I'm getting a very fair price on my 997tt trade in..
The car is loaded with options and if I were to order it new I would chose the same colors configuration.

 

Your price is good with market for age and mileage and your "fair price on my 997tt". Always glad to help and a loaded Mulliner is a very nice choice.

 

Those are some nice seats in those mulliner's. mine came with the Mulliner wheels..

I had my dealership throw in a year warranty on the engine and transmission and do the 5 year deal, even though my car had 9k miles on it..

I have another question :-)
I noticed that in the center console inside the passenger armrest there is the privacy handset but on the driver side I see that there is a dock which is exactly the same as the passenger one but there is nothing in it should there be the nokia Bluetooth phone in it? I'm wondering if it has been misplaced and if so I will ask for the dealer to give me a replacement unit. I am certain that every options was fitted on this car so if someone could tell me if another handset other than the privacy one should come with the car.

Am not 100% sure if there should there be the nokia Bluetooth phone in it. Hopefully someone here knows (or the dealer of course). If there is no second (passenger armrest) handset, this frees up that space for a Tibaldi Bentley pen

I just went over the carfax of the car and it had 4 previous owners and had failed its 2010 emission test (passed on second one). It has as well as had right axle replaced. I love the car as I said it's exactly what I have been looking for but the carfax report is not stellar...

 

If all work was done by the Bentley dealer i would not worry about the axle. As for emissions, sounds like someone swapped exhausts at some point perhaps? The four owner thing is a bit concerning even given the state of the economy. Perhaps use this as bargaining chips to lower the price?

 

I dont know if ill be able to lower it further but I'll try. The axle replacement was done by bentley dealer.. Wednesday I'll get to test drive it and I'll give it a thorough check. Thank you again for the help.
