Shearling Coats

We have talked cars and watches and other fine things ij life but I am in the market for a fine Merino Shearling coat. Do any of you guys have one or have good information concerning them.

I have a black mink fur russian style hat I bought in Alaska and love fur but have to be careful about the coat. My wife hates the hat and is concerned about wearing any kind of fur in our little southern town of redneckville. This ain't NY.

We have discussed the stereotyping that comes with certain cars but what about a man that wears dead animals???

I thought about posting a pic of me and my coyote hunting hat but you may loose al respect for me and have me drummed out of the club. It is a coyote skin on wool with the tail and all Daniel Boone style.

Probably 90% of the people on this forum have a leather coat that comes from a "dead animal." Better clarify that. 90% have a leather coat. 100% of the coats come from a dead animal.

As long as you get the Merino Shearling coat with bullet proof lining wear it with pride anywhere u go.

Better still you might as well get custom made with gun holster and ride gangster style...door open...leg out...flip jacket open to show shiny piece and step out puffing away on your Cristo cigar!

Wedgy I do like the way he thinks. I actually have a custom deer skin jacket from deer I shot will need to post a pic of that and the hat someday.

Funny thing about the coat was that the lady making it complained about the holes in the fabric. I had to inform her that we had to shoot the deer to get the hide and those were the bullet holes.

An advantage being a dentist - you could have crept up behind the deer and anesthetized it

Kinda hard to sneak up on those beasts. Really the whole kill it, grill it, and wear it is sort of old school romantic to me. Did you guys not like the old show with Fess Parker as Daniel Boone?

I see the coat as a luxury item like cars and watches but actually more functional.

Ah, that brings back the memories. I spent many happy hours as a kid dressed in a coonskin hat and tail, fighting off the bad guys.

I think I still do?????

No kidding Ken when I post these pics you will have another laugh at my expense. You will see a thread bump in January check it out. When we are supposedly grown up we have to mask our role playing with more credible/creative scenarios.

I called Overland and discussed the coats and decided to have them ship me three different ones, at a time and send all back but the winner. For the $ they cost(1-3K) I have to be sure I like it that much.
