Collected the GT Speed last yesterday

Picked up the 08 Speed yesterday. fantastic 400 mile drive back not a single problem. I averaged about 19.5 mpg over the 400 miles. The first 100 were cross country so I think that's not bad.

I do have a problem now though. Since today I keep getting an amber Parking brake P alarm on the dash when I start up or some times when driving. If I stop switch off, restart I get a green message telling me to press the brake peddle. It seems to be ok for a while but comes on at strange times

I forgot to say its an amber P with a / through it . and on one occasion the car felt sluggish as if the Parking brake hadn't completely disengaged.
Any one know what it means.
Frank

I know the p on the cluster effects many conti gts
Very common problem, mine does it sometimes

If you search thru threads you will read its usually a sensor
It's a common bug
I am not fixing mine untill it gets bad, it comes on once a week if that

Does it matter if warning light comes up sometimes but disappears when you restart the car? I get air suspension and ABS errors sometimes when I play with the vehicle height. The message disappears if I restart the car.

I only get air ride error if I play with jack mode on and off sometimes

I also have 3 sets of air filters for the gt, brand new 180 cash per pair

I think it does matter as the dash display doesn't clear the amber P with / through it all the time making all the dash info useless. I also noticed once when I pulled away the park brake hadn't fully released and the car was sluggish. I had to stop re-apply the park brake switch off and restart again.

Thanks, I must try the Jack mode some time just to see how it works. I read about it last night.

Had the same problem. It could be the sensor in the right (or left in your case, need VAG-COM) rear brake caliper assembly. These are cropping up on various cars and the 06 GT had that problem. Price? It was fixed under warranty and an easy, maybe 1 hour factory fix. Not sure the part cost, all paperwork to the previous car went with the... Oh wait, I might have it here!

part 3W0907801E CM brake actuator $252.

Seems to be a common issue.
I haven't got my diagnostic tester as yet so I phoned Glasgow Bentley, they are picking the car up on Wednesday as they suspect a poor performing park brake motor or sensor. .
I will post the outcome when its fixed

It wont affect anything other than e-brake. Alas. the damn big yellow /P covers the center dash, which means the GPS directions capability/etc details on the center dash does not allow for various screens to operate correctly. More annoying than anything else and easy to fix.

Will that Yellow (/p) on the display clear its self as you drive over a distance/time , or is it stuck on the screen until you restart the engine?

Stuck until you re-cycle the system. Forget if it is just an on-off of the car, or if you have the leave and lock the car, then unlock and restart so the electronics 'reset' per se. For me, I 'live off' GPS so it was a situation that was fixed very fast.

So I got my VAS 5054A and found the issue. LH Parking brake Hall sensor failure with slow action motor.
Bentley Glasgow picked up car fixed fault and deliver car back next day with new sensor and actuation motor. cost £379 including labour and 20%Vat.
I cleared a few old outstanding issues caused by a flat battery 10k miles ago while I was at it. I also found an intermittent Terminal 30 defect which Bentley also put right for free and I found the steering angle sensor required a full calibration as it was in an estimated state, they did a full calibration for free as well . Well done Bentley Glasgow.

Agree dealerships seem to accommodate owners quite well. My 'local' dealer (Bentley Boston) does all my servicing. Great guys too!
