Continental SuperSport

I am considering getting a SS and I am going for a test drive tomorrow on this car: http://www.manhattanmotorcars.com/us...s-trim-u12213/
It has fairly high mileage for this type of cars so what do you think I should offer them for it?
Are there any known issues with the SS? I would get it with 1 or 2 years CPO.
Let me know what you guys think. Thank you.

Haven't kept up on SS pricing, yet 24k miles may seem 'high' to some but really means the car is driven regularly (good) and bet service is up to date too (good) PLUS the car has had time/miles to work out any possible problems. i'd rather have a 2010 with 24k miles than 2k miles. Let us know how the test drive goes.

I don't see that as high milage either and i agree with ETM above. I think the pricing is pretty decent too but i'd offer 10g less and see how he reacts.

Thank you for all the inputs!
So I test drove the SS today and it is a beast. The steering is surprisingly reactive and precise. Pressing on the gas pedal is an adrenaline rush and it too is very precise. The ceramic breaks have incredible stopping power and give you a great sense of security. The car itself felt rock solid I took it to a side cobble stone street to hear if I could detect any rattle and found none.
The naim sound system with 1100 watts is of course very good but I would rather drive with the stereo off and windows down to listen to the muscular a rumble of the exhaust.
All and all this car is fantastic.
I checked the service records there were no red flags and regular service was done.
What I didn't like was that the interior of the car was not in great condition the carbon fiber trim on the center condole was covered with scratches and the alcantara steering wheel was peeling. They said they would replace the steering wheel though.
I am working on the numbers with them and will keep you posted on what happens.

Hope you get what you want. If you do get the car do a Leatherique treatment to the leather and it will wake it up quite a bit.

Sounds like a great car with a few minor cosmetic bits that are easy to correct. Congrats!

I ended up passing on the car. It was great mechanically but was not well maintained cosmetically and I know it would have bugged me in the long run. But what a machine!

I see you decided on the 991, instead. Great choice!
(for those of you wondering how I know that, I ordered a 2014 Porsche 911 and am active on the 6Speedonline Porsche 991 forum where Norman just posted news about his newest acquisition)

Yes I got a 2014 C4S cab I never thought about it until I saw one seating at the dealership and I was impressed by the way it looked.
I was excited about getting the SS but the one they had didn't turn out to be the one for me.
I was about to call it a day but out of curiosity asked about the C4S and found that they were expecting a highly optioned one to arrive this week so I jumped in and purchased it.
It's been a little while since I haven't had a Porsche my last one was an 07 997 tt. I'm excited about the new car.

You still intend to hang around here Norm as well or are you leaving the forum?

I hear the new ones have a more GT type ride is that true? I also have heard some whining about that complaining that Porsche has gone soft.

I test drove both a Speed and a Supersports on regular roads (city+highway) before deciding on a Supersports and in Comfort Mode i'd say the difference is about 10%. You mostly feel it going over large expansion joints and potholes, but in reality unless you drive on cobblestone streets a lot, there is no problem. You can soften the ride even more by raising the suspension height. I also did an autocross in a regular 2013 GTC and body roll there was atrocious. Steering was numb and everything felt disconnected compared to a Supersports.

On a racetrack, however, things are a lot different. Supersports is more planted, more predictable and easier to control. There is a lot less body roll. Dont quote me on this, but I feel like traction control in a SS (when turned "somewhat" off) may be less aggressive than in a Speed. Alcantara seat inserts prevent you from sliding around. Shifts are slightly quicker. You will be pulling away from Porsches and Corvettes on a straight and out-braking them as well, but in turns there is no escape from the 5,000 Lbs weight, whether its a Supersports or a Speed. It plows, even with the AWD.
