Trunk gas Struts

On cars with the automatic trunk opener, do you need to replace the gas struts, and how would you know if they need to be changed.

Yes they wear out and are easy to replace. They seem to wear out where the trunk is a bit more lethargic in closing, or you have problems with it consistently closing incorrectly. See https://www.6speedonline.com/forums/...ic-shocks.html

My boot lid would fall during the lift cycle and replacing the struts fixed it.
