Update on recall for boot warranty and Bentley service thoughts please

Hi guys as you know I bought a 31000 mile 2007 Bentley continental GTC a few week ago, I found out there was a recall on power boot system, as my boot button was not working I thought it worth a try to see if it corrected the problem, I booked it in with Bentley manchester, they did the boot update and a full health check. It came back with a clean report plus they informed me the car was still under bentley warranty and would I like to extend it. The button on the power boot was still not working and I had guessed it would need a new badge button. So with the warranty still in force I booked the car in with them for the boot repair. They have had the car for the last few days but have sorted the problem by fitting a new badge and button so now the car is perfect. Bentley have offered me a further 4 year Bentley warranty for the grand price of £11300. Which is no small change. I have only bought the car as a summer fun toy and I will probably only do 2000 max miles a year. I plan on using Ivor at crew for my servicing and repairs. What I suppose I am asking is would you pay for the warranty or just save the money to one side for any major problems. I must admit they did a fantastic valet job plus the cakes and coffee in the showroom was lovely. I love the car and I am hoping to keep it for a very long time with view of it being a futor classic. Oh and I have been put on the Bentley factory tour with lunch thrown in, so that will be nice. Has anyone done it and how good was it.

Considering your low annual miles, save your money.

BTW with such low annual miles, every second or third year for service imho.

Don't let the pampering fool you into paying 11 grand as that can buy all the cake you can eat for years to come.

Actually, that is a staggering (insane?) $14,100 USD. Keep in mind a 2007 GTC with that mileage is worth about $60,000.

Mate, I'm in the same boat as you with a 2007 gt 30k miles...given that I paid £45K for the car does it make sense to pay another £11K for the warranty? If these cars were going to hold or increase in value then yes possibly, but there is nothing to suggest that they will.

Think I will keep my money in the bank and get Bentley Independent servicing and maintenance.

I've noticed that as these cars are becoming more common, the cost of repairs and maintenance is starting to come down...even for an engine out job.

Thanks for the thoughts guys, I've made up my mind to not take the warranty and to use an independent specialist. Classic cars start out as cars it's only the years ahead popularity and people's passion that makes them sought after, whether the gtc will be one of them we will have to wait and see, at least I'll be having fun with the car for the time being.lol. Cheers.
