CEL code po310
CEL code po310
Hello everyone, thanks in advance for your time with my issue. So, 2 weeks ago I was at a light, and someone wanted to race me(mustang). The light changed and I stomped it(and beat him), the cel started flashing when I took off. it stayed flashing for about 10 miles then turned off. No hesitation, or abnormal conditions after the cel turned off. No problems for 2 weeks.
Then today, a Mercedes(beat the s550) wanted to race, the same thing happened. But this time the cel stayed on. No abnormal driving conditions, used the obd2 and read only 1 code which is po310. When I type this into the search, nothing comes up. But im sure its there somewhere.
So, besides stop racing, has someone experienced this before? It seems to me that maybe there is some carbon built up somewhere, or time for a tune. The car is a 2008 with 87k miles on the clock. I had the car less then a year, with this being the only issue. I never tuned it, or dont know when it was last tuned. Is a tune, a good place to start? Currently, the cel is off, and no other issues. But I believe something is going bad, or need to be cleaned. Thank you everyone.

Never ever drive the vehicle with the check engine light flashing, extremely bad thing to due, if any cylinder is misfiring, running lean, or any other fault you could melt that cylinder, or burn out the cat associated with said bank of problem cylinder, when the CEL is FLASHING, stop the vehicle immediately and shut down the engine, then re-start, the light should either be off or solid, if still flashing, re-start again until flashing stops, I had this a while back on my A8L W12, step on it and it would flash, that shortly later turned into step on it and stumble, then step on it and be a dog until 4000RPM exactly and then all cylinders would fire and though me back in the seat like a rocket, and all I ever had were some misfires here and there on random cylinders, I did all the coils/$17.25ea. and all plugs, which reminds me to change my original 190Kfuel filter.....

If using a generic OBD2 scanner, you really should get a Ross-Tech, or the ODIS 5054A to receive the proper code to obtain proper fault info.

As far as "Carbon Built Up", our W12TT are NOT direct injected, they are port injected, so the spraying of fuel by the port injectors keep the runners and the valves clean, so no CBU, you could move coilpack number 10 to an other cylinder and see if the code changes to where to moved it, but there is some work to get to the coils/plugs, so while in there at 87K I would just replace all plugs and coils.

thank you for all the information. Currently, she purrs, with no check engine light on. Should I get the Vas5054 or the 5054 you mentioned? Or are they the same. I was considering buying the $1k one from ruggedcomputing. At thistime with no cel, do you still recommend swapping? Or just prepare to do all coils, and plugs? And of course stop stomping on it.
Hello Steven,
Fasttoney does not know, "The car is a 2008 with 87k miles on the clock. I had the car less then a year, with this being the only issue. I never tuned it, or dont know when it was last tuned."...

ok. I really appreciate the info. One other question, is service by mileage or years?. The reason I'm asking is because when I got the car 3k miles ago, the bentley dealer performed a 9 year service. Which is small things. And said the 10 year is the big service which includes plugs. Should I do the 10 year early? Or just the plugs, coils, and ?? thanks again.
thank you Steven. Even tho I don't post often. I'm familiar with your contributions to the forum. You actually helped me with deciding to purchase this car. And I have been very happy with the purchase. Even with these small issues. thank you again.
Great information. I have saved this info for future reference. I hope mine will not need the recommended repairs anytime in my future driving. I drive very short miles with just 24000 on the engine. I try to drive it but just fail to do so. I keep waiting for the shoe to drop anytime. After following the issues others are having with their vehicles I continue watching for warring dash lights. It is too bad that these vehicles cannot be driven for many trouble free miles like so many other expensive vehicles. I must say though I love the vehicle and really enjoy driving it. It is worth the needed effort for what ever it needs to continue the driving experience. You cannot beat the time less design and beauty of the Bentley.
Thanks for all of everyone's input.
